A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt %, wherein the (B) polymer is selected from polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters, or combinations thereof. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) are based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Composition, polymer composite article formed therewith, and method of preparing same

A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %, wherein the (B) polymer is selected from polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters, or combinations thereof. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) are based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Polyheterosiloxane compositions are disclosed containing at least 70% by weight of the following components: (A) a first metal (M1) selected from Ti, Zr, or Zn, (B) a second metal (M2) selected from a non-lanthanide metal, (C) siloxy units having the formula RSiOor R'SiO, where R&#x2032; is independently a hydrocarbon group or halogen substituted hydrocarbon group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms. The disclosed compositions are useful to prepare high refractive index materials.

Compositions useful for providing water repellent characteristics to substrates contain (i) 0.1-99 percent by weight of a methylhydrogensiloxane; (ii) 0.1-99 percent by weight of a silanol endblocked siloxane; (iii) 0.1-99 percent by weight of a silicone resin; (iv) 0.1-10 percent by weight of at least one surface active agent; and (v) 0.01-5 percent by weight of at least one additive selected from the group consisting of a preservative, an antifoam, a mildewcide, a UV absorber/UV light stabilizer, and a freeze-thaw additive. The balance of the composition to 100 percent by weight is water.

The present invention relates to a method of making silicone release coating compositions comprising mixing a vinyl functional organopolysiloxane, an organohydrogensilicon compound, a platinum group metal-containing catalyst, and certain silylated acetylenic inhibitors. The present invention further relates to a method of making silicone release coating compositions comprising mixing an organopolysiloxane compound having alkenyl groups which contain at least four carbon atoms, an organohydrogensilicon compound, a platinum group metal-containing catalyst, and a silylated acetylenic compound having its formula selected from the group consisting of: HC&equiv;C&mdash;Q&mdash;O&mdash;Si&mdash;(R ) , HC&equiv;C&mdash;Q&mdash;O&mdash;Si(R ) &mdash;O&mdash;Q&mdash;C&equiv;CH, and H&mdash;Si&mdash;(O&mdash;Q&mdash;C&equiv;CH) where R is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, monovalent hydrocarbon radicals free of aliphatic unsaturation, and an alkenyl group, and Q is a divalent hydrocarbon radical at least 3 carbon atoms, with the proviso that there is at most one silicon-bonded hydrogen group or one silicon-bonded alkenyl group per silylated acetylenic compound.

Curing provides adhesives ranging from pressure sensitive adhesives having improved properties to permanent adhesives. A pressure sensitive adhesive tape comprising a tape substrate having at least a portion of one or more sides coated with a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is constructed using an adhesive which cures to a permanent adhesive. The adhesive is covered on the outer side with a release film, preferably coated with a fluorosilicone release layer, to allow storage of the tape. Preferably the curable silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is cured upon exposure to moisture, the tape therefore being stored in the absence of moisture. A silicone elastomeric structural glazing tape is made by using a silicone elastomer as the tape substrate. The tape can be used to bond glazing panels to building components without the use of other means of fastening.
