Provided are mobile decontamination units and methods of using such units for decontaminating various areas, such as aircraft cabins. A mobile decontamination unit comprises at least one aerosol dispersing nozzle and at least one aerosol directing fan. The nozzle disperses disinfectant in the aerosol form, while the fan directed this aerosol to surfaces being decontaminated. Aerosol dispersing parameters, such the nozzle and fan orientations, dispersing rate, fan speed, and the like, are determined based on area characteristics. Specifically, orientations of different surfaces, temperature, humidity and/or other like characteristics may be considered. Some characteristics may be obtained by the mobile decontamination unit after its deployment in the area, such as using its sensors. Other characteristics, such as area layout, may be preloaded to the mobile decontamination unit prior to its deployment. The dispersing parameters are determined to ensure through decontamination of the surfaces in the area.

Automated decontamination of complex areas

An illustrative embodiment of a contaminant resistant structure includes a substrate having a substrate surface, at least one contaminant resistant material provided on the substrate surface and a hydrophobic or oleophobic, and alternatively, a hydrophilic or oleophilic material provided on at least a portion of the substrate surface.

Contaminant resistant coating fabrication structure and method

An antimicrobial coating fabrication method includes providing a substrate having a substrate surface, providing at least one first antimicrobial material in at least one first pattern on the substrate surface and providing at least one second antimicrobial material on the substrate surface in at least one second pattern disposed in generally adjacent relationship with respect to the at least one first pattern of the first antimicrobial material. An antimicrobial structure is also disclosed.

Antimicrobial coating fabrication method and structure

Provided are methods for testing aerosol material compatibility of various samples to disinfectants, decontaminates, and other such materials that are used as aerosols. A test is performed in a controlled environment, such as an aerosol chamber, using a specific set of test parameters representative of actual use of tested materials, such as dispensing parameters and exposure parameters. During the test, a test surface of the sample is exposed to an aerosol mist. Other surfaces may be protected. After exposure to the aerosol mist, the sample may be allowed to sit for a period of time. The sample is later cleaned and tested to determine effects of various materials in the mist on the sample. In some embodiments, some or all operations may be repeated for the same sample or different samples. The test parameters may be varied to determine compatibility limits.

Provided are methods for decontamination of compartments, such as aircraft compartments and other types of compartments, and systems for implementing these methods. In some embodiments, a method involves detecting presence of one or more contaminants in a compartment. This information is used to select various decontamination conditions. In some embodiments, additional information, such as the type of the compartment (e.g., an aircraft compartment), temperature, and humidity, may be also considered while selecting the decontamination conditions. The decontamination conditions include identification of one or more decontaminating agents to be dispensed in the compartment, temperature profile of the air to be flown into the compartment, and timing of the decontaminant dispensing and air flowing operations. These conditions are selected to increase efficacy of the selected decontaminating agents with respect to the one or more detected contaminants and reduce impact on the aircraft compartment.

High temperature decontamination of aircraft compartments

An electrostatic spraying system for decontamination of a vehicle is described. The system includes a wheeled platform sized to fit inside the vehicle, at least one tank operable to contain one or more decontaminant agents, the tanks supported by said wheeled platform, a plurality of nozzles affixed to the wheeled platform, wherein each nozzle is positioned for distribution of the decontaminant agents in at least one pre-determined direction, an electrostatic charging system connected to each of the nozzles for applying an electrostatic charge to the decontaminant agents as the agents are dispersed, and at least one compressor in communication with the tanks for pressurizing the decontaminant agents. The one or more compressors are capable of providing a pressure sufficient to provide a constant distribution of the decontaminant agents through the electrostatic nozzles.

Methods for dispersing decontamination products

A method and apparatus for managing a zone. Information is obtained about an environment in the zone with a sensor system. A determination is made by an analyzer system as to whether a contagious condition is present in the zone using the information from the sensor system. An action is performed by a management system in response to the contagious condition being present.

Infectious disease detection system

Devices and systems are provided for the remote monitoring of physiological parameters of a patient. An exemplary wireless physiological monitoring device comprises a substrate formed of a flexible biocompatible material. The substrate has a surface for affixing to the skin of a patient. A wireless data transmission device, a biosensor, and a power source are integrated with the substrate. The biosensor is configured to measure a physiological parameter. Flexible conductors are integrated with the substrate and are configured to electrically couple the biosensor and the power source with the data transmission device.

Methods and systems for dispersing decontamination products

A method and system are provided for decontaminating at least a portion of an object. A misting device is configured to discharge a cloud formed from a plurality of cloud droplets. At least some of the cloud droplets include a decontaminating agent. A spraying device is configured to discharge a stream including a plurality of stream droplets into the cloud. At least some of the stream droplets have an electrostatic charge. At least some of the cloud droplets are deposited on the portion of the object to facilitate decontaminating the portion.
