A computer-implemented method of routing a dental restoration design case to a user account includes receiving new dental restoration design cases associated with metadata describes design requirements. The method includes parsing the metadata to identify design factors indicating the requirements and storing the new cases in a main queue. The method also includes receiving login information, identifying the user account for the design user and retrieving attribute data associated with the account. The attribute data describes a design skill level of the design user. The method includes evaluating the design factors of the new dental restoration design cases in the main queue based on the attribute data of the account to determine a dental restoration design case in the main queue that satisfies the attribute data of the account and routing the determined dental restoration design case to a user queue associated with the user account.

Integrated digital workflow for providing dental restoration

Methods and apparatuses can include generating computer 3D models of an object, by registering two or more scans of physical models of an object. The scans may be 3D scans registered by a curve-based registration process. A method can include generating a 3D model of a portion of a patient's oral anatomy that can be used in dental restoration design. Scanning workflows can include scanning physical models of an object to obtain a 3D model. A scanner can scan physical models of a patient's dentition to obtain scans used to generate a 3D model of a patient's dentition.

A computer-implemented method of designing a dental restoration at a display includes providing a virtual three dimensional representation of at least a portion of the patient's dental situation. The method includes displaying a library arch form in an alignment with the virtual three dimensional representation of the portion of the patient's dentition. The library arch form includes a pair of two virtual library teeth packing to each other. The method also includes in response to a parametric change of one of the two virtual library teeth, moving the other virtual library tooth to keep packing to the changed virtual library tooth.

A computer model of a physical object may be formed by registering multiple images of the physical object by using a registration process based on characteristic features of the physical object. Multiple images may be registered by aligning characteristic curves of the physical object that have been identified through imaging. A curve-based registration process may be used in dental applications to register multiple images of a patient's oral anatomy to form a computer 3D model from which a patient-specific dental restoration may be designed.
