A system for an electric machine associated with a gas turbine engine of a vehicle includes a shield to be coupled to the electric machine. The shield includes a first wall opposite a second wall with a passage defined between the first wall and the second wall. The first wall defines an inlet port at a first end opposite an outlet port defined between the first wall and the second wall at a second end. The inlet port and the outlet port are in communication with the passage. The system includes an airfoil coupled to the shield proximate the second end to extend from the shield. The airfoil defines an airfoil inlet at a leading edge that is in communication with an interior of the airfoil. The interior of the airfoil is in communication with the inlet port and is to couple the electric machine to the gas turbine engine.

System for electric machine associated with gas turbine engine

A thrust reverser for an aerial vehicle is coupled to an engine associated with the aerial vehicle. The thrust reverser includes a housing configured to receive an exhaust flow. The housing is movable relative to the aerial vehicle between at least a first, stowed position and a second, deployed position. The housing includes at least one inner flange that defines a first curvature. The thrust reverser includes a pair of doors coupled to the housing. The pair of doors is movable between at least a first position and a second position based on a movement of the housing. Each door of the pair of doors includes a leading edge and a trailing edge. The trailing edge is downstream from the leading edge in a direction of the exhaust flow through the housing, and the leading edge has a second curvature that is substantially the same as the first curvature.

Thrust reverser for aerial vehicle

A pylon system for coupling an engine to a vehicle is provided. The pylon system includes a vehicle pylon to be coupled to the vehicle. The vehicle pylon includes a seal along a portion of the vehicle pylon. The pylon system includes an engine pylon including an inboard longeron and an outboard longeron. The inboard longeron is coupled to the outboard longeron at a first end of the engine pylon and is spaced apart from the outboard longeron at a second end of the engine pylon. The engine pylon is to be coupled to the engine, and the engine pylon is slidably coupled to the seal such that the engine pylon is movable relative to the vehicle pylon between at least a first position and a second position.

Pylon system for coupling engine to vehicle

A sound attenuating cell includes a first sound attenuating cavity defined between a first sidewall and a second sidewall. The first sidewall is opposite the second sidewall. The first sidewall includes a first undulating surface and the second sidewall includes a second undulating surface. A deflector is coupled to the first undulating surface. The deflector extends from the first undulating surface toward the second undulating surface. The first undulating surface is axially offset from the second undulating surface to define a tortuous path between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The first sound attenuating cavity has a first end and a second end. The first end is opposite the second end, and an inlet and an outlet of the first sound attenuating cavity is defined at the first end. The sound attenuating cell includes a second sound attenuating cavity nested within the first sound attenuating cavity.

A primary lock system for a translating cowl thrust reverser system includes a primary lock having a housing, a lock, and a manual mechanism. The lock is disposed at least partially within, and is movable relative to, the housing and is movable between a lock position and an unlock position. The manual mechanism is coupled to the lock and is configured, in response to a manual input force supplied to the manual mechanism, to: selectively move from a first position to a second position, whereby the lock is selectively moved from the lock position to the unlock position, respectively, and selectively prevent movement of the lock out of the lock position.

Translating cowl thrust reverser primary lock system

An actuator for a thrust reverser includes a ball screw, a ball nut coupled to the ball screw, and a gerotor coupled to the ball screw. The gerotor includes an inner rotor coupled to the ball screw and an outer rotor. The outer rotor includes a plurality of bores. The actuator includes a lock system coupled to the outer rotor. The lock system is to enable the gerotor to rotate the ball screw in an unlocked state and to inhibit a rotation of the ball screw in a lock state. The lock system includes a piston coupled to a piston housing and a grippable member coupled to the piston housing. The piston is received in one of the bores in the lock state, and the grippable member is to move the piston housing relative to the gerotor to move the lock system to the unlocked state.

An accessory system for a gas turbine engine having a drive shaft with an axis of rotation is provided. Also provided is a bearing housing assembly for coupling the drive shaft of an accessory having a first gear to a gear associated with the accessory system. The bearing housing assembly includes a mount including an interface to be coupled to the accessory and defining a central bore, and a lock cylinder configured to receive the drive shaft. The lock cylinder is movable relative to the central bore and the drive shaft to adjust a contact pattern between the first gear of the drive shaft and the gear of the accessory system.

Compact accessory systems for a gas turbine engine

A translating cowl thrust reverser system with efflux management includes a support structure, a transcowl, a cowl shield, and a single cascade structure. The transcowl and cowl shield are moveable together between a first position, in which the transcowl abuts the support structure, and a second position, in which an aperture is formed between the transcowl and the support structure. The cowl shield has cowl shield turning vanes. The single cascade structure is disposed within the aperture and includes a forward wall, a curved vane, internal turning vanes, and external turning vanes. In the first position, each cowl shield turning vane is disposed between a different pair of external turning vanes. The cowl shield turning vanes, the internal turning vanes, and the external turning vanes turn the airflow so that it is directed substantially perpendicular to, and vertically outboard relative to, a plane of symmetry.

The components include castellated flange arrangements that provide an improved retention method for retaining the components that is far superior in than bolts and nuts, especially for massive unbalance loading.

An alternating clockwise and counterclockwise helicoid cell structure for use in acoustic panels. The cell structure geometry may be easily replicated and tiled using additive manufacturing. The cell structure has at least an outer cavity and an inner cavity. The cavities are coaxial, share the same height, same entrance side, and same cell structure floor. The inner cavity includes a number of equal-volume inner chambers rotated uniformly in a first direction around the shared central axis; and the outer cavity includes a second number of equal-volume outer chambers rotated uniformly in an opposite direction to the first direction around the shared central axis. In various embodiments, one or more perforated baffles may extend, internally, across a chamber, perpendicular to direction of sound waves at the location of the perforated baffle. In various embodiments, one or more port openings from the outer cavity to the inner cavity may be present.

Alternating helicoid cell structure and methods of producing the same

An accessory system for a gas turbine engine having a driveshaft is provided. The accessory system includes a towershaft coupled to the driveshaft and driven by the driveshaft. The accessory system also includes a shaft including a first shaft bevel gear coupled to a towershaft bevel gear. The shaft is rotatable by the towershaft. The accessory system includes a first accessory drive shaft having a first accessory bevel gear driven by the shaft. The accessory system also includes a second accessory drive shaft having a second accessory bevel gear driven by the shaft.

A fan structure having integrated rotor impeller, and methods of producing the same are provided. The fan structure includes a fan housing that encircles a longitudinal axis, and defines an airflow direction from an inlet side to an exit side. The integrated rotor impeller structure is disposed to rotate within the fan housing. The integrated rotor impeller structure includes (a) a cylindrical rotor shell being annular about the longitudinal axis, and having a shell length, and (b) an axis rod coaxial with the longitudinal axis, and having an axis rod length of less than or equal to the shell length. An airflow annulus is created therebetween. A blade is disposed within the airflow annulus to extend radially from the external surface of the axis rod to the inside surface of the the cylindrical rotor shell. One or more magnets are integrated within the integrated rotor impeller structure.

Fan structure having integrated rotor impeller, and methods of producing the same

An accessory system for a gas turbine engine having a driveshaft with an axis of rotation is provided. The accessory system includes a towershaft coupled to the driveshaft and driven by the driveshaft along a towershaft axis of rotation. The accessory system also includes a shaft including a first shaft bevel gear coupled to a towershaft bevel gear. The shaft is rotatable by the towershaft along a shaft axis of rotation and defines an air-oil separator. The shaft axis of rotation is transverse to the towershaft axis of rotation. The accessory system includes a first accessory drive shaft having a first accessory bevel gear driven by the shaft. The accessory system also includes a second accessory drive shaft having a second accessory bevel gear driven by the shaft.

A cooling system with a thin walled cooling plate. The system includes an enclosure with a cover that defines an interior space and that has an open side. Temperature sensitive devices are contained in the interior space. A cooling plate closes the open side and includes an inner side with a surface that is substantially flat and that faces into the interior. The cooling plate defines a flow channel adjacent the inner side that is configured to channel a circulating fluid to remove heat from the interior space. The flow channel extends across substantially all of the opening. An outer side of the cooling plate may be anodized to block heat from entering the interior space through the cooling plate.
