Methods and apparatus for loop-filter processing of reconstructed video are disclosed. According to one method, multiple CC-ALF (Cross-Component Adaptive Loop Filter) filters are used. Selection of the multiple CC-ALF filters can be signalled in one APS (Adaptation Parameter Set). According to another method, the CC-ALF can be implemented according to the difference between a to-be-process sample and its neighbouring sample.

Method and apparatus of cross-component adaptive loop filtering for video coding

In one example, a method for video coding includes receiving input data associated with a current block in an image frame, generating an inter predictor of the current block, and generating an intra predictor of the current block based on samples of neighboring pixels and an intra prediction mode that locates the samples of neighboring pixels. The method further includes generating a final predictor of the current block by combining the inter predictor and the intra predictor according to one or more intra weight coefficients associated with the intra prediction mode, and encoding or decoding the current block based on the final predictor to output encoded video data or a decoded block. The one or more intra weight coefficients indicate one or more ratios that corresponding one or more portions of the intra predictor are combined with the inter predictor, respectively.

Method and apparatus of video coding

A method of video coding using palette coding mode for color video in a non-444 color format is disclosed. The non-444 video data can be converted to the 444 format so that the palette designed for the 444 format can be used for the non-444 video data. For the 4:2:0 color format, each chroma sample collocated with corresponding quad luma samples is padded with three chroma samples to form converted quad chroma samples. For the 4:2:0 color format, if a current pixel does not belong to the color palette, one or more escape values are signaled for the current pixel and the escape value associated with the chroma sample of the current pixel for each color component is not signaled for three of the quad chroma sample locations collocated with corresponding quad luma samples.

Methods of palette based prediction for non-444 color format in video and image coding

A method and apparatus for intra prediction for a current block using directional intra prediction based on neighboring pixels around the current block are disclosed. Embodiment according to the present invention derives the gradient for the current pixel from the neighboring reconstructed pixels along a prediction direction of directional intra prediction. The gradient derived is used to form the final intra prediction. In another embodiment of the present invention, the intra prediction for slant vertical and horizontal directions is derived based on the neighboring reconstructed pixels in a neighboring row adjacent to the top side of the current block and the neighboring reconstructed pixels in a neighboring column adjacent to the left side of the current block.

A method for intra prediction mode decoding for a current block based on multi-level most probable mode (MPM) sets. The method includes determining one or more MPM candidates for a first-level MPM set, and determining one or more most probable remaining mode (MPRM) candidates for a second-level MPM set. In one embodiment, a method receives a video bitstream corresponding to compressed video, wherein Filter Unit (FU) based in-loop filtering is allowed in a reconstruction loop associated with the compressed video. The method then derives reconstructed video from the video bitstream, wherein the reconstructed video is partitioned into FUs and derives a merge flag from the video bitstream for each of the FUs, wherein the merge flag indicates whether said each of the FUs is merged with a neighboring FU. The method further receives a merge index from the video bitstream if the merge flag indicates that said each of the FUs is merged, and receives the filter parameters from the video bitstream if the merge flag indicates that said each of the FUs is not merged. Finally, the method applies the in-loop filtering to said each of the FUs using the filter parameters.

A method and apparatus for loop filter processing of video data in a video encoder or decoder are disclosed. Embodiments according to the present invention conditionally allow sharing of loop filter parameters. In one embodiment, sharing of loop filter information between the current block and a neighboring block is determined according to a condition. If the condition indicates that sharing of loop filter information is allowed, a merge flag is coded and incorporated in the video bitstream in an encoder, and a merge flag is parsed from the video bitstream and decoded in a decoder. In one embodiment, the condition depends on region partitioning of the picture, where region partitioning partitions the picture into regions and the region may correspond to a slice or a tile. The condition is set to indicate that sharing of loop filter information is allowed if the block and the neighboring block are in a same slice/tile.

The present disclosure describes a method of decoding a block, and the method includes receiving a flag indicating whether a current intra prediction mode is equal to any of one or more most probable modes, deriving, based on a value of the flag, the current intra prediction mode from a decoded mode index, and decoding the block according to the current intra prediction mode. The current intra prediction mode belongs to a mode set that includes a DC mode, a Planar mode, and at least one directional mode.
