Systems and methods are provided that allow a user to interact with a device using gaze detection. In the provided systems and methods, the gaze detection is initiated by detecting a triggering event. Once gaze detection has been initiated, detecting a gaze of a user may allow the user to activate a display component of the device, pass a security challenge on the device, and view content and alerts on the device. The gaze detection may continue looking for the user's gaze and keep the display component of the device activated as long as a gaze is detected, but may deactivate the display component of the device once a gaze is no longer detected. To conserve power the gaze detection may also be deactivated until another triggering event is detected.

Systems and methods for device interaction based on a detected gaze

A system includes a memory configured to store data associated with a service that is available. The system also includes a microphone associated with an acoustic space and configured to receive an audio input produced by a person. The system further includes a sensor located within the acoustic space and configured to detect vibrations produced by the person. The system includes a processor coupled to the memory, to the microphone, and to the sensor. The processor is configured to conditionally authorize execution of the service requested by the person, the service conditionally authorized based on the audio input and the vibrations.

Identification and authentication in a shared acoustic space

A multichannel acoustic system (MAS) comprises an arrangement of microphones and loudspeakers and a multichannel acoustic processor (MAP) to together enhance conversational speech between two or more persons in a shared acoustic space such as an automobile. The enhancements are achieved by receiving sound signals substantially originating from relatively near sound sources; filtering the sound signals to cancel at least one echo signal detected for at least one microphone from among the plurality of microphones; filtering the sound signals received by the plurality of microphones to cancel at least one feedback signal detected for at least one microphone from among the plurality of microphones; and reproducing the filtered sound signals for each microphone from among the plurality of microphones on a subset of loudspeakers corresponding that are relatively far from the source microphone.

Enhanced conversational communications in shared acoustic space

A multichannel acoustic system (MAS) comprises an arrangement of microphones, loudspeakers, and filters along with a multichannel acoustic processor (MAP) and other components to together provide and enhance the auditory experience of persons in a shared acoustic space such as, for example, the driver and other passengers in an automobile. Driver-specific features such as navigation and auditory feedback cues are described, as individual auditory customizations and collective communications both within the shared acoustic space as well as with other individuals not located in the space via enhanced conference call facilities.

Methods and apparatuses are presented for controlling an application on a device. In some embodiments, a method may include detecting that a user is maintaining an object or gesture at a position hovering near the device for a threshold length of time. The method may also include anchoring an initial position of the object or gesture to the device based on the detection of the maintained position, and controlling the application using the anchored initial position. In some embodiments, controlling the application using the anchored initial position may include manipulating the application based on detecting within a stable zone associated with the anchored initial position a change in height of the gesture or object relative to the device, and not manipulating the application whenever the object or gesture is detected to move along a plane above and parallel to the device and within the stable zone.

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for authenticating users using the haptic, aural, and/or olfactory association processing channels that are unique to humans are presented. In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes displaying a plurality of images and generating a sensory output, wherein the sensory output includes a tactile sensation that corresponds to one of the plurality of images. In an embodiment, a method comprises detecting, by a parent device, an initiating non-touch gesture performed by a user towards the parent device. The method also comprises initiating an action based on the detecting. The method further comprises triggering, by the parent device, a gesture recognition mode on one or more secondary devices based on the detecting. And the method further comprises completing the action upon a positive gesture recognition by the one or more secondary devices.

Systems, apparatus and methods for determining a gesture are presented. According to some aspects, disclosed are systems, apparatus and methods for determining a gesture that compares different images and deduces a direction and/or distance based on a relative size change of a palm in the different images. After a reference palm size is registered, subsequent palm sizes are compared to the reference to determine if and/or how much the hand is moving. The hand gesture is determined based on these relative changes in hand movement.
