Amide branched aromatic gelling agent breakers

A downhole fluid comprises a base fluid, for example a hydrocarbon base fluid, and a pyromellitamide gelling agent. The pyromellitamide gelling agent may have the general formula of: with R, R, R, R, R, R, R, and Reach being a hydrogen or an organic group. R1, R2, R3 and R4 may each be hexyl groups or may each be octyl groups. A composition for gelling a downhole fluid, the composition comprising a pyromellitamide gelling agent and a wetting agent.

Pyromellitamide gelling agents

A downhole fluid comprises a base fluid, for example a hydrocarbon base fluid, and a gelling agent. The gelling agent has an aromatic core of one or more aromatic rings, the gelling agent having two or more amide branches distributed about the aromatic core, each of the two or more amide branches having one or more organic groups. An example gelling agent is a pyromellitamide gelling agent. The pyromellitamide gelling agent may have the general formula of: with R, R, R, R, R, R, R, and Reach being a hydrogen or an organic group. Methods of use and composition are discussed.

Amide branched aromatic gelling agents

A fracturing fluid for a downhole environment is disclosed, comprising a water-sensitive gel; and a hydrated breaker. A fracturing fluid for a downhole environment is also disclosed, the fracturing fluid comprising a water-sensitive carrier and a breaker, the breaker comprising one or more hydrates, and wherein water of the one or more hydrates is releasable so as to act with the water-sensitive carrier to reduce the viscosity of the fluid. A method of treating a downhole environment with a fracturing fluid is also disclosed, the method comprising: providing to the downhole environment a fluid comprising a water-sensitive carrier and a breaker, the breaker comprising one or more hydrates; and allowing water from the one or more hydrates to release so as to act with the carrier to reduce the viscosity of the fluid.

Breakers for gelled fracturing fluids

A gelling agent for a hydrocarbon fracturing fluid is disclosed, comprising the general formula of: in which X is an OR, NRR, or SRgroup, Ris an organic group having 2-24 carbon atoms, and Ris an organic group or a hydrogen. Y is an NRRor SRgroup, Ris an organic group having 2-24 carbon atoms, and Ris an organic group or a hydrogen. A method of making a gelling agent for a hydrocarbon fracturing fluid is also disclosed. Phosphorus oxyhalide is reacted with a chemical reagent to produce substantially only diester phosphorus oxyhalide, the chemical reagent comprising at least one of an organic alcohol having 2-24 carbon atoms, an organic amine with an organic group having 2-24 carbon atoms, and an organic sulfide having 2-24 carbon atoms. The diester phosphorus oxyhalide is then hydrolyzed to produce diester phosphoric acid. 

Volatile-phosphorus free gelling agents

A fracturing system for a well, in which a stream of LPG, a mixture of propane and butane, is injected into the well at frac pressure. Proppant is supplied into the LPG stream, and carried by the LPG mix into the formation. Inert gas such as nitrogen is used for purging system components of LPG, and to help protect against risk of explosion. Nitrogen may also be added to the LPG mix during a frac of shale gas or coal gas formations.

New fluids are disclosed for use in servicing subterranean formations containing oil and gas. In particular, an improved chemical gelling additive for hydrocarbon based fracturing fluids is disclosed having reduce, negligible or no volatile phosphorus at temperatures below about 250&#xb0; C.

Methods for using non-volatile phosphorus hydrocarbon gelling agents

An apparatus and method for the treatment of stimulation fluid that involves passing a mixture of the stimulation fluid and reagents through a sectioned tank, each section having the means to agitate the mixture contained therein. Treated fluid is removed from a final settling section for reuse in oil and gas production operations.

Non-volatile phosphorus hydrocarbon gelling agent

A method of treating a hydrocarbon reservoir that is penetrated by a well is disclosed, the method comprising injecting into the well a water transfer system comprising liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and an alcohol that is at least partially water and liquefied petroleum gas soluble. Further, a method of treating a hydrocarbon reservoir is disclosed, the method comprising introducing into the hydrocarbon reservoir a combination of LPG and a solvent system that is at least partially liquefied petroleum gas and water soluble.

Water transfer system

A method of acidizing and cleaning up a formation is disclosed, the formation being above 150 degrees C. The formation is treated with a mutual solvent system comprising a mutual solvent of oil and water, an aqueous acid, a corrosion inhibitor, and an iron control agent. In some embodiments, the iron control agent is present in an amount of less than 1% by weight of the mutual solvent system. In some embodiments, the corrosion inhibitor may be present in an amount of less than 10% by weight of the mutual solvent system. In some embodiments, the mutual solvent system further comprises an intensifier.

Mutual solvent system and method for improved oil and gas permeability in high temperature formations

Hydrocarbon stimulation fluids are often used to increase the permeability and productivity of oil and gas reservoirs. The fluid itself is made up of a mixture of hydrocarbons and various chemicals designed to induce gel formation and gel breaking. The successful removal of these chemicals from the fluid has been achieved, through a process of acid-washing and filtration. This will allow the fluid to be re-used many times for further fracturing processes.
