The disclosure provides for systems and methods for removing particle settlement in a heater system. The method includes introducing a fluid into a first heater of the heater system, wherein the first heater is operable to increase the temperature of the introduced fluid. The method further includes actuating a first air agitation unit to discharge a volume of compressed air into the first heater, wherein the compressed air is configured to provide mixing and suspension to particles settled within the first heater through the velocity and expansion of the compressed air to atmospheric pressure. The method further includes discharging a mixture from the first heater comprising the fluid and the particles from the first heater and directing the discharged mixture to a return point in a flow path.

Process heater anti-settling systems and methods

In some embodiments, a method for controlling a learning machine used in a drilling operation to drill a well into a subsurface formation includes receiving, via a video stream, an image of debris including cuttings from the drilling operation. The method may further include generating a first mask on the image to identify the cuttings in the debris, generating, via instance segmentation, a second mask for each of the identified cuttings, determining, based on the second masks, one or more properties of each of the cuttings, and associating each of the identified cuttings to a depth interval of the subsurface formation based, at least in part, on the properties of each of the identified cuttings and at least one property of the drilling operation.

Disclosed herein are automated sample cleaning systems and processes after collection of the drilling cuttings from the shale shaker. These automated sample cleaning systems and processes help in delivering a drilling cutting sample that has been cleaned following the same procedure from one drill rig site to another providing consistency on its impact on the compositional analysis of the drilling cutting sample.

Automated sample cleaning

A system including an image acquisition unit in optical communication with a flow pathway. The system may include at least one illumination source directable toward a shale shaker. The illumination source may emit a light output. A band-stop filter may be affixed to the image acquisition unit to filter out infrared light. The band-stop filter may also allow electromagnetic radiation of the light output to reach the image acquisition unit. An analysis device may be used to determine a volume of downhole particles on the shale shaker using deflections of the light output observed by the image acquisition unit.

A drilling system for drilling a borehole. The drilling system includes a drilling fluid pump operable to circulate fluid through the borehole and a fluid analysis system to analyze returned fluid from the borehole. The fluid analysis system includes a sensor system, a recirculation system, and a control system in electronic communication with the drilling fluid pump and the recirculation system. The sensor system is operable to measure one or more properties of the returned fluid. The recirculation system includes a pump and controllable valves and is operable to control flow of the returned fluid through the fluid analysis system.

A well system for handling downhole particles. The well system may include a mud pump, a shaker including a corrugated shaker screen, a drill string, an imaging device, and a data acquisition system that may include a processor. The processor may be programmed to determine a cross-sectional area of a portion of the corrugated shaker screen occupied by the downhole particles in a first image of the images based on the first image, on a known profile of corrugations of the corrugated shaker screen and a known distance and angle between the imaging device and the corrugated shaker screen to determine a volume of the downhole particles on the portion of the corrugated shaker screen in the first image based on the cross sectional area occupied by downhole particles, a velocity of the downhole particles moving across the corrugated shaker screen, and an image generation rate.
