A synchronous-tilt reclining office chair includes a seat, a backrest interconnected to the seat, and an arrangement providing a synchronous-tilt mechanism that controls synchronous movement of the backrest and seat between a normal non-reclined position and a reclined position. Recline tension provided by the arrangement is a function of a force required to compress at least one tensioning spring mounted below the seat, a weight applied on the seat by a seat occupant, and a location of the weight on the seat relative to front and rear portions of the seat, whereby, as the weight is applied toward the front portion of the seat, recline tension is reduced and, as the weight is applied toward the rear portion of the seat, recline tension is increased.

A reclining control system for a chair having a back and a seat including a rigid seat member having a bottom surface and a first rigid link having a first end and second end. The first end of the first rigid link may be adapted to engage the back and the second end of the first rigid link may be positioned proximally adjacent to the bottom surface of the rigid seat member. A rigid link may have a first end and a second end, where the first end of the rigid link may engage the bottom surface of the rigid seat member at an engagement point. The second end of rigid link may engage the second end of the first rigid link in an aft position. The reclining control system for a chair may further include a pivoting link having a first end and a second end. The first end of the pivoting link may engage the bottom surface of the rigid seat member at the engagement point and the second end of the pivoting link may engage the second end of the first rigid link in a fore position. The rigid link moves the rigid seat member from a non-reclining position in a downward and backward direction and the pivoting rigid link moves the back to a reclining position.

Reclining control system for a chair

A chair is provided having at least one leg with an upper end on which a seat component is supported and a backrest interconnected to and projecting from the seat component. The backrest comprises a lower backrest section, an upper backrest section, and a backrest hinge interconnecting the upper backrest section to an upper end of the lower backrest section. The lower backrest section is interconnected to and extends from a rear portion of the seat component and the backrest hinge is configured to permit the upper backrest section to be located in an upright position in which the upper backrest section projects above the lower backrest section and is configured to permit the upper backrest section to be pivoted to a forward position in which the upper backrest section extends laterally over and spaced above the seat component.

A chair having an articulating backrest that deforms when reclined to support an occupant's head or shoulders. A backrest assembly includes a mesh insert secured to a frame, which includes an upper frame section and a lower frame section interconnected by a pair of articulated joints. A push arm pivotally connects to the chair's seat assembly and to the backrest's upper frame section. As the chair reclines, the push arm restricts the angular movement of the upper frame section relative to a floor. The lower frame section moves forward relative to the upper frame section. Consequently, an angle formed between the lower frame section and the upper frame section decreases during recline, thereby supporting the chair occupant's head or shoulders. Optionally, a tensioning member may connect the mesh insert to the push arm to offset any loss of tension caused by the deformation of the frame during reclined.

An identification system includes a clamshell device that grasps a wire, and a clip that secures the clamshell device in a locked and closed position. The clamshell and/or clip are preferably color-coded to differentiate one wire from another, hereby allowing a technician to easily discern which wire is plugged into which port, and which wire is connected to which patient. The invention is particularly well suited for incorporation with healthcare devices and machines which have long lead wires that reach from the patient to the machine, such as electrical stimulation machines.

A floating, self-propelling, self-ballasting, pivotable bridge system is described. The bridge has a main bridge body with a pontoon-like structure. One end of the bridge has a pivoting system comprising complementary pivot plates, one attached to the bridge and the other on land with a pivot pin attaching them at a pivot point. The other end of the bridge has a releasable locking mechanism. The bridge has ballast tanks for raising and lowering its level in the water. The bridge also has thrusters for propelling itself through the water when it pivots from a closed position spanning a waterway to an open position allowing boat traffic through a waterway.
