A method and system for adjusting satellite communication network based on weather nowcasting are provided herein. The method may include: receiving weather conditions within a specified geographic region from a plurality of sources; obtaining positions of at least one terrestrial terminal within said specified area and a position of a communication satellite being in communication with said at least one terrestrial terminal; generating nowcasting predictions of weather conditions in a plurality of locations along communication paths between said communication satellite and said at least one terrestrial terminals, based on the received weather conditions; calculating total signal attenuation integral along said communication paths, over time, based on said nowcasting predictions; and dynamically adjusting communication characteristics of the at least one terrestrial terminal according to the calculated total signal attenuation.

Method and system for addressing line of sight (LOS) blockage in satellite communication networks are provided herein. The method may include the following stages: obtaining forecast input parameters; forecasting at least one future LOS blockage in two or more communication links established between at least one communication satellite and at least one platform-mounted communication system having at least one antenna, based on the forecast input parameters; and addressing the future LOS blockage by applying at least one of: rerouting the communication links between the at least one platform-mounted communication system and at least one of the communication satellite; changing a power level of at least one of the communication links; changing at least one of: spreading, modulation and coding of at least one of the communication links; changing mobility parameters of the platform-mounted communication system.

A satellite broadcasting system for communication between a satellite hub and a range of ground stations in which a set having a predetermined number of modulation-codings (MODCODs) is available for data transmission from the satellite hub to the ground stations. Methods and apparatus for implementing a receiver filter with logarithmic coefficient multiplication

The present invention is a return link for a satellite communication system. The return link described herein is suitable for use in any type of communications network such as networks used for Internet access purposes. The return link in combination with a forward link forms a complete two way communication system via satellite. The return link comprises two separate communication schemes used in combination to implement the return link of the satellite system. The first communication scheme uses a random access method based on a non synchronous frequency hopping code division multiple access technique (NS/FH/CDMA). The second communication scheme uses a channel assignment method based on a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) technique. Data generated by a user is transmitted utilizing one of the two communication schemes in accordance with the content and amount of data generated. Messages requiring a relatively low transmission rate, such as short bursty messages, utilize the random access transmission method. On the other hand, messages requiring a higher transmission rate, such as video conferencing, utilize the channel assignment method.
