A stacked synthesizer for wide local oscillator (LO) generation using a dynamic divider. The phase locked loop can include a plurality of voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs), and a selector that can be configured to select an output of one of the plurality of VCOs. The selected output of one of the plurality of VCOs can be provided to an on-chip dynamic divider and to an off-chip dynamic divider for LO sharing. The dynamic dividers can be configured to generate synthesizer outputs based on a multiplication of the selected output of one of the plurality of VCOs by a factor (1+1/M), where M is a variable number.

Embodiments described herein include an integrated circuit (IC) device. For example, the IC device can include a substrate configured to be coupled to a printed circuit board (PCB), an IC die attached to the substrate, and a waveguide launcher formed on the substrate. The waveguide launcher is electrically coupled to the IC die through the substrate.

A transmitter includes an up-converter and a modular receptacle. The up-converter is coupled to convert an input signal into a Radio Frequency (RF) signal having an output frequency, and is configurable to adjust the output frequency over a frequency range containing multiple sub-bands. The modular receptacle includes a first interconnection adapter coupled to the up-converter and a second interconnection adapter for coupling to an antenna. The receptacle is configured to receive between the first and second interconnection adapters a Power Amplifier (PA), which is selected from a group of power amplifiers each covering a respective sub-band in the frequency range.

A method for power measurement includes applying a nonlinear function to a Radio Frequency (RF) signal that includes a modulated component and a spurious component, so as to produce a broadband signal that includes a Direct-Current (DC) component, a baseband component and one or more High-Frequency (HF) components. The broadband signal is Band-Pass (BP) filtered so as to produce a bandpass signal from which the DC and HF components are removed. Based on the bandpass signal, a power of the modulated component in the RF signal is estimated irrespective of the spurious component.
