A fill limiter vent valve (FLVV) adapted for suspension downward into a fuel tank has upper and lower housing members having openings in their cylindrical walls cooperating to define a spill-over level for fuel into the FLVV producing float-initiated vent valve closure during a fuel fill event. The lower housing member has a latching member fixedly engageable with one or more cooperating latching features of the upper housing member in a plurality of relative axial positions; and the spill-over level is varied by relative axial movement of the housing members between those positions. Axial alignment of the latching member and the cooperating latching features is maintained by axially aligned, interacting surface features of the housing members.

A grounded wiper assembly for a fuel sensor includes a wiper housing for rotation relative to a variable resistor and a wiper with at least one contact operatively supported by the wiper housing for contacting the variable resistor as the wiper housing rotates. The grounded wiper assembly includes a float arm connected to the wiper housing and a float connected to the float arm such that the float moves the float arm and the wiper housing relative to the variable resistor as a level of fuel increases and decreases in the fuel tank. The grounded wiper assembly further includes a conductor interconnecting the float arm and the wiper to bleed off electrical charges attached to fuel to ground.

A cover assembly for a fuel tank of a vehicle includes a cover made of a metal material adapted to close an opening in the fuel tank having a fuel reservoir disposed therein and an insert molded to the cover to form a plurality of members to allow components to be attached thereto. The insert is integral, unitary, and one-piece.

A fuel system for a vehicle having a generator includes a fuel reservoir which taps into the main fuel tank. A solenoid pump pumps fuel from the main fuel tank to the reservoir which in turn feeds fuel to the generator. A fuel shut-off valve is provided in the reservoir to prevent overfilling of the reservoir without the need for a fuel level sensor or pump control electronics. The valve is operable to close upon the fuel level reaching the closing height of the valve. Closing of the valve causes the pump to idle, thus stopping the flow of fuel into the reservoir. Fuel is still allowed to flow from the reservoir to the generator, thus allowing uninterrupted running of the generator. When the fuel level in the reservoir dips below the closing height of the valve, the valve opens and the pump again starts pumping fuel into the reservoir.

Vehicle fuel supply system

A device and method for venting a tank comprising an intermediate shutoff valve as part of a cover that closes a tank opening. The intermediate shutoff valve is placed between an existing valve and a vent port in a liquid storage tank. The shutoff valve is operable to substantially fluidly seal the vent port when the vent valve is displaced greater than a predetermined amount. The intermediate shutoff valve facilitates complete removal of the existing vent valve during an impact wherein a wall of the storage tank impacts the existing valve. Upon impact, the intermediate shutoff valve is operable to close and seal a tank opening created by the displacement and removal of the existing vent valve.

A valve mechanism to control fluid flow between a fluid pumping device and a system that includes an inlet from the fluid pumping device, a first valve, a second valve, a first outlet fluidly connected to the system, and a second outlet. The first valve prevents backflow of fluid when the fluid pumping device discontinues pumping fluid to the system. The second valve checks fluid flow through the valve to the first outlet when fluid pressure at the inlet is less than a first predetermined pressure. The second valve permits fluid flow from the pump through the valve to the system only when fluid pressure at the inlet is greater than the first predetermined pressure. The second valve prevents fluid pressure in the system from substantially exceeding a second predetermined pressure when the pumping device is not pumping fluid to the system.

An in-tank fuel line quick connector assembly for a fuel tank in a vehicle including a first member adapted to be disposed inside of the fuel tank and having a projection extending outwardly. The in-tank fuel line quick connector assembly also includes a second member adapted to be disposed inside of the fuel tank and having a cavity to receive the projection. The in-tank fuel line quick connector assembly further includes a seal ring disposed in the cavity to engage the first member. The second member has opposed latches adjacent the cavity and being movable to engage the projection for retaining the first member and the second member together.

A grounded fuel delivery module for a fuel system of a vehicle includes a fuel pump adapted to pump fuel from a fuel tank to an engine of the vehicle. The grounded fuel delivery module also includes a retainer contacting the fuel pump and a cover adapted to cover an opening in the fuel tank. The grounded fuel delivery module further includes at least one guide rod interconnecting the cover and the retainer to complete an electrical circuit used for grounding of components attached to either one of the cover and the retainer.

A fuel filter assembly for a fuel delivery module for a fuel system of a vehicle includes a filter housing adapted to be disposed in a fuel reservoir of the fuel delivery module and having a closed end and an open end. The fuel filter assembly also includes a fuel filter disposed in the filter housing and an end cap connected to the filter housing to close the open end. The fuel filter has an integral spring cooperating with the filter housing to urge the fuel filter toward the end cap.

A fuel pump isolation assembly for a fuel pump of a vehicle includes a fuel pump and an isolation housing having a fuel pump cavity extending axially therethrough to receive the fuel pump. The fuel pump isolation assembly also includes a plurality of flex arms extending from the isolation housing and into the fuel pump cavity to engage the fuel pump and allow radial movement of the fuel pump during its operation.

A valve seat for a fuel pressure regulator includes a valve body adapted to be disposed in the fuel pressure regulator and a passageway extending axially through the valve body. The passageway is tapered through the valve body to reduce fluid flow cavitation by limiting expansion of the fuel.

A fuel pump module assembly for a fuel tank in a vehicle includes a reservoir adapted to be disposed in the fuel tank having a top defining an overflow fuel level of the reservoir. The fuel pump module assembly also includes a conduit conducting return fuel from an engine of the vehicle to the reservoir and a one-piece jet pump disposed in the reservoir and having an inlet operatively connected to the conduit. The jet pump has a nozzle to discharge fuel into the reservoir.

A fuel tank cover assembly for a fuel tank of a vehicle includes a cover adapted to close an opening in the fuel tank having a fuel reservoir disposed therein, a return guide rod extending from the fuel reservoir toward the cover, and a valve disposed between the cover and the return guide rod to allow one-way flow of fuel from the cover to the fuel reservoir.

A check valve plunger assembly for use in a fluid channel is provided. The check valve plunger assembly includes a check valve plunger having a first end, a second end, and a body portion. The body portion extends between the first and second end of the check valve plunger. The plunger assembly also includes an integral breakaway retention device having a ring shaped portion. The retention device is capable of being positioned around the check valve plunger such that the ring shaped portion surrounds at least a portion of the first end of the check valve plunger. Breakaway connectors are provided which connect the first end of the check valve plunger with the ring shaped portion of the retention device. After assembly, the check valve plunger is separated from the breakaway connectors and the plunger is able to freely move within the fluid channel. The present invention also provides a method of inserting this check valve plunger within the fluid channel.

A secondary fuel pump assembly for a fuel tank in a vehicle includes a reservoir adapted to be disposed in the fuel tank having a top defining an overflow fuel level of the reservoir. The secondary fuel pump assembly also includes a conduit conducting return fuel from an engine of the vehicle to the reservoir and a jet pump having a discharge outlet in the reservoir and an inlet operatively connected to the conduit. The secondary fuel pump assembly includes an overflow fuel member defining a flow path for overflow of fuel in the reservoir and a guide member extending into the overflow fuel member and having at least one aperture extending therethough. The secondary fuel pump assembly further includes a guide disposed over the guide member and movable relative thereto to open and close the at least one aperture and a float connected to the guide to move the guide as a fuel level rises and falls in the reservoir.
