Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for support mobility in a wireless network for user equipments (UEs) with varying capabilities. A UE can receive a first system information from a serving base station, where the first system information includes a UE capability condition associated with a neighbor base station, and determine whether a UE capability meets the UE capability condition associated with the neighbor base station. When the UE capability condition is met, the UE can determine whether a first measurement of a first reference signal received from the serving base station and a second measurement of a second reference signal received from the neighbor base station satisfy a threshold condition. When the threshold condition is met, the UE can obtain a second system information from the neighbor base station, indicating the UE has performed handover to the neighbor base station.

Mobility support for user equipments with varying capabilities in a wireless network

An electronic device may include radios that transmit signals using antennas. Control circuitry may assign radio-frequency exposure (RFE) budgets to the radios. The control circuitry may classify and predict attributes of application data for transmission over the radios, may generate a per-radio data prediction based on the classified attributes, and may generate the RFE budgets based on the classified attributes. Each radio may transmit application data based on its data prediction and according to its RFE budget. A dynamic portion of the RFE budget may be reserved for control signaling. RFE planning in this way may ensure that the device optimally utilizes its RFE budget, increasing overall RFE during some time periods so sufficient transmit power is available, and ensuring that RFE is distributed across the radios depending on the amount and criticality of the data to be transmitted by each radio.

Electronic devices with application-based radio-frequency exposure management

User equipment in close proximity may transfer data and control information. For example, the user equipment may exchange data or data sets between each other. Each user equipment can receive and transmit data using radio access technologies. A group of user equipments may include active user equipment and passive user equipment. Active user equipment connects with one or more base stations and transfers data on a wireless communication network via the base station. The active user equipment may communicate with other active user equipment and passive user equipment. Passive user equipment may not connect to any base station and/or the wireless communication network and may communicate with other passive user equipment and active user equipment (e.g., via a sidelink, peer-to-peer, or device-to-device channel).

Unified operation for user equipment groups

A communication system may include a base station (BS), user equipment (UE), and a set of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS's). The RIS's, the UE, and the BS may communicate using a control RAT and a data RAT. The BS may transmit downlink (DL) signals to the UE device via reflection off a DL RIS. The UE device may transmit uplink (UL) signals to the BS via reflection off a UL RIS. This may optimize wireless performance in situations where reflecting the UL and DL signals off the same RIS would limit performance under the current data RAT channel conditions. The BS and the UE device may use channel measurements of the control RAT at the RIS's to select the UL RIS and the DL RIS. This may significantly reduce overhead required to identify the UL and DL RIS's relative to scenarios where exhaustive beam training is used.

Communication via uplink and downlink reflective devices

A wireless communication system may use forward-forward learning to for end-to-end learning. A transmitter may pass a positive dataset and a negative dataset through each of its layers for model training. Each layer may correspond to a goodness function. The transmitter may send the positive dataset to a receiver. The receiver may generate a second positive dataset and a second negative dataset based on the positive dataset sent from the receiver. The receiver may train each of its layers using the second positive dataset and the second negative dataset.

An electronic device may include a set of antenna panels (APs) that transmit and receive signals within a set of signal beams. A proximity sensor such as a radar sensor may gather sensor data indicative of the position an external object. The device may select an AP and a beam that maximize wireless performance in communicating with a base station while also complying with the radio-frequency exposure (RFE). The device may select the AP and the beam based on the sensor data, per-panel and per-beam projected RFE values, antenna port RFE characteristics, per-panel and per-beam transmit power limits, per-beam transmit power backoffs, an RFE lookup table, regulatory RFE limits, and antenna performance metrics. The device may transmit an RFE report to the base station that identifies some or all of this information for use in updating scheduling for the device.

Radio-frequency exposure beam management and selection in communications systems

A wireless network may include a base station and user equipment (UE). The UE may transmit uplink (UL) signals to the base station using a dynamically adjustable maximum UL duty cycle. When the UE identifies that a user is in proximity to the UE, the UE may transmit an indicator to the base station. The indicator may identify that a radio-frequency exposure (RFE) event has occurred and/or a suggested maximum UL duty cycle that would allow the UE to satisfy limits on RFE. The base station may limit a UL grant to the UE so that the UE performs subsequent communications using the suggested maximum UL duty cycle or a different maximum UL duty cycle. Coordinating adjustment of UL duty cycle in this way may allow the UE to meet limits on RFE without requiring the UE to perform maximum transmit power level reductions.

User equipment may transmit and receive wireless signals to and from various communication networks. Furthermore, user equipment may indicate usage capabilities to the various wireless communication networks to enable the user equipment to transmit and/or receive wireless signals to and from at least two different communication networks. In particular, the user equipment may indicate usage capabilities of supporting both Frequency Range 2 (FR2) wireless signals of a fifth generation (5G) network and 7-24 gigahertz (GHz) wireless signals of a sixth generation (6G) network in an intermediate frequency range of the user equipment. The communication network(s) may then configure and/or schedule the user equipment based on the usage capabilities to enable the user equipment to simultaneously or non-simultaneously communicate using both the FR2 wireless signals and the 7-24 GHz wireless signals while preventing interference in the intermediate frequency range of the user equipment.

Systems and methods for network coexistence

Techniques discussed herein can facilitate enhancements to measurement for a User Equipment (UE) in Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connected mode for configuration of Carrier Aggregation (CA) and/or Dual Connectivity (DC).
