An electronic device may include radios that transmit signals using antennas. Control circuitry may assign radio-frequency exposure (RFE) budgets to the radios. The control circuitry may classify and predict attributes of application data for transmission over the radios, may generate a per-radio data prediction based on the classified attributes, and may generate the RFE budgets based on the classified attributes. Each radio may transmit application data based on its data prediction and according to its RFE budget. A dynamic portion of the RFE budget may be reserved for control signaling. RFE planning in this way may ensure that the device optimally utilizes its RFE budget, increasing overall RFE during some time periods so sufficient transmit power is available, and ensuring that RFE is distributed across the radios depending on the amount and criticality of the data to be transmitted by each radio.

Control signaling reservation for radio-frequency exposure management

User equipment in close proximity may transfer data and control information. For example, the user equipment may exchange data or data sets between each other. Each user equipment can receive and transmit data using radio access technologies. A group of user equipments may include active user equipment and passive user equipment. Active user equipment connects with one or more base stations and transfers data on a wireless communication network via the base station. The active user equipment may communicate with other active user equipment and passive user equipment. Passive user equipment may not connect to any base station and/or the wireless communication network and may communicate with other passive user equipment and active user equipment (e.g., via a sidelink, peer-to-peer, or device-to-device channel).

Systems and methods for user equipment group management and control

User equipment may transmit and receive wireless signals to and from various communication networks. Furthermore, user equipment may indicate usage capabilities to the various wireless communication networks to enable the user equipment to transmit and/or receive wireless signals to and from at least two different communication networks. In particular, the user equipment may indicate usage capabilities of supporting both Frequency Range 2 (FR2) wireless signals of a fifth generation (5G) network and 7-24 gigahertz (GHz) wireless signals of a sixth generation (6G) network in an intermediate frequency range of the user equipment. The communication network(s) may then configure and/or schedule the user equipment based on the usage capabilities to enable the user equipment to simultaneously or non-simultaneously communicate using both the FR2 wireless signals and the 7-24 GHz wireless signals while preventing interference in the intermediate frequency range of the user equipment.

Systems and methods for network coexistence

Techniques discussed herein can facilitate enhancements to measurement for a User Equipment (UE) in Radio Resource Control (RRC) Connected mode for configuration of Carrier Aggregation (CA) and/or Dual Connectivity (DC). One example embodiment comprises a UE device comprising a processor configured to perform operations comprising: transmitting a UE Assistance Information message comprising a measurement request; receiving a first RRCReconfiguration message comprising a measConfig information element (IE); performing one or more measurements on each of on one or more frequencies based at least on the RRC measConfig IE, wherein the one or more frequencies comprise at least one non-serving frequency associated with a neighboring cell; transmitting a MeasurementReport message that indicates the one or more measurements for at least one of the one or more frequencies; and receiving a second RRCReconfiguration message that configures the UE with the at least one of the one or more frequencies.

Measurement enhancement in radio resource control (RRC) connected for user equipment (UE)

In some aspects, a media device may monitor, using a radio frequency (RF) sensor, an environment of the media device; determine, from a received RF signal obtained by the RF sensor, a user attribute of a user within the environment; and control an audio system, associated with the media device, to direct an audio beam toward or away from the user. Radio frequency sensing for control of a media system

Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for communicating in a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. A user equipment (UE) can receive, from a first base station using the first RAT, first configuration information for the UE to communicate with a second base station via the second RAT; and receive, from the first base station using the first RAT, a downlink message to enable a communication link between the UE and the second base station via the second RAT. The downlink message includes second configuration information for the UE to communicate with the second base station via the second RAT. The UE can establish the communication link between the UE and the second base station using the second RAT based on a link configuration obtained from the first configuration information and the second configuration information.

Communications using multiple radio access technologies (RAT) for a multi-mode user equipment (UE)

Cooperative communication for user equipment groups

An electronic device may include a first set of radios subject to a specific absorption rate (SAR) limit and a second set of radios subject to a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit over an averaging period. Control circuitry may dynamically adjust radio-frequency (RF) exposure metric budgets provided to the radios over the averaging period, based on feedback reports from the radios identifying the amount of SAR and MPE consumed by the radios during different subperiods of the averaging period. The control circuitry may distribute and adjust SAR budgets and MPE budgets across the radios based on the feedback reports, distribution policies, radio statuses, transmit activity factors, and/or usage ratios associated with the radios. This may provide efficient utilization of the total available SAR and MPE budget, thereby leading to increased uplink coverage and throughput relative to scenarios where the SAR and MPE budgets remain static.

Electronic devices with hierarchical management of radio-frequency exposure

A distributed multi-antenna system includes a first access point configured to emit first beams to a user equipment device. The first access point is also configured to receive, from the user equipment device, an indication of a first beam selected from the first beams via a beam sweeping procedure. The distributed multi-antenna system also includes a second access point configured to receive, from the user equipment device or the first access point, the indication. The second access point is also configured to emit a second beam of second beams corresponding to the second access point to transmit data to the user equipment device based on the indication and a location of the second access point.

Beam management for distributed multi-antenna systems

An electronic device may include communications circuitry, sensing circuitry, and a set of antennas having first and second feeds for covering different polarizations. The communications circuitry may transmit signals with a first polarization using each of the antennas and may concurrently transmit signals with a second polarization using all but a selected one of the antennas. The sensing circuitry may concurrently transmit sensing signals with the first polarization using one of the antennas and may receive sensing signals with the second polarization using the selected antenna. The sensing signals may include chirp signals generated to include muted periods that correspond to a range of frequencies that overlap frequencies at which the wireless circuitry is subject to radio-frequency interference. This may allow for concurrent wireless communications and sensing operations without interference between the communications circuitry and the sensing circuitry.

Electronic devices with concurrent radio-frequency transmission and sensing

Systems and methods for implementing uplink (UL) gaps to facilitate user equipment (UE) calibration are disclosed herein. A UE determines one or more slot patterns of a slot configuration that is repeated during time division duplex (TDD) communication with a base station. The UE determines a UL gap periodicity (defining periods covering an integer number of repetitions of the slot configuration). The UE then performs UE calibration during one or more semi-persistently configured UL slots of a period of the UL gap periodicity that correspond to UL indication(s) in one or more of a common configuration, a dedicated configuration, and/or a slot format indication (SFI) downlink control information (DCI) for the slot pattern(s) of the slot configuration. Methods of identifying particular semi-persistently configured UL slots of a period to use for the UL gap are also discussed. UL slot indications from dynamic DCI are not used for UL gap purposes.

FR2 type 1 UL gap configuration in dynamic TDD system

Coverage enhancements and coverage mode switching related optimizations are discussed for user equipments (UEs) that may switch between various coverage extension (CE) and non-CE modes of operation. In such enhancements, paging uncertainty and delays may be reduced by sending pages either simultaneously or using historical information over multiple coverage modes available to UEs. Random access procedures may be improved by providing CE mode random access procedures that are available when normal mode random access attempts fail and before declaring radio link failure. Additional aspects include improvements for more advanced UEs to improve coverage within normal mode operations by leveraging techniques used for narrowband CE mode operations, including transmission repetition and gapless transmission scheduling over hopped narrowband frequencies.

Coverage enhancement and normal modes switching related optimization

Triggering an uplink (UL) gap at a base station may include decoding a user equipment (UE) UL gap capability report received from a UE. A radio resource control (RRC) UL gap configuration for transmission to the UE may be encoded. The RRC UL gap configuration may include configuration information associated with at least one of a periodicity, offset, or length. Measurement information received from the UE may be decoded. The measurement information may include at least one of a power headroom value, a Pvalue, or a P value. Based on the power headroom value, the Pvalue, or the P value, the UL gap configuration may be activated by encoding a medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC CE) for transmission to the UE.

Methods of type 1 UL gap triggering in FR2

A base station may transmit beams to user equipment. The user equipment may receive the beams and transmit a signal to a base station. The base station may determine signal characteristics associated with the beams based on the signal and compare the signal characteristics with predefined signal characteristics that correspond to potential locations of the user equipment. Based on this comparison, the base station may determine a position of the user equipment and transmit a targeted beam based on the position of the user equipment. The base station may also track the position of the user equipment and provide an updated targeted beam based on an updated position of the user equipment. Accordingly, the base station may efficiently form and update the targeted beam based on the predefined signal characteristics, thereby reducing an amount of time required to establish and maintain communication with the user equipment.
