An LED illumination device corresponds to a compact fluorescent lamp and has improved thermal properties. The illumination device includes a transparent tube having an inner wall defining a cavity, a light engine having one or more light emitting diodes, and a driver to drive the light engine. The light engine is disposed at the inner wall of the transparent tube. The arrangement of the light engine and the one or more light emitting diodes at the inner wall of the tube provides improved lighting characteristics. Simultaneously, an improved cooling is provided by the interface surface for conducting heat between the inner wall and the light engine.

A tubular semiconductor lamp having an elongate heat sink formed from sheet metal, at least one strip-shaped circuit board, which is equipped with at least one semiconductor light source and which lies on the heat sink, and a light-transmissive bulb made of plastic, which arches over the equipped circuit board, wherein the circuit board is held in a longitudinally movable manner by the heat sink. A method for producing a tubular semiconductor lamp, which can be applied, for example, to replacement lamps for straight-line fluorescent lamps or linear lamps, of type T5 or T8.

A LED filament for an omnidirectional lamp comprises two longitudinal filament sections, and each filament section includes a plurality of LEDs. The two filament sections are electrically conductively connected by a flexible connecting section. A lamp using such LED filaments provides a light distribution having an increased homogeneity.

An end cap for a retrofit LED lamp includes a transparent tube. An end cap is mounted to an end of the transparent tube. A pair of pins electrically and mechanically connects the LED lamp to a tube holder. The pair of pins extends through the end cap. A protective cap sits over the pair of pins thereby protecting the pair of pins from being touched by a user.

Semiconductor lamp having a straight, translucent tube whose open end faces can be closed by means of respective end caps, which end caps are plug-connected to the tube, a circuit board which is equipped with at least one semiconductor light source is installed in the tube and is in contact with at least one of the end caps, wherein both end caps are mechanically connected to one another by means of a connection element running in the tube, at least one of the end caps is arranged such that it can be displaced longitudinally with play with respect to the tube and thermal expansion of the connection element in a longitudinal direction of the tube is smaller than thermal expansion of the tube and wherein the connection element is snap-fitted to at least one of the end caps. The invention can for example be used for retrofit or replacement lamps for conventional elongate lamps (e.g., fluorescent lamps and tube lamps).
