An aqueous solvent composition useful for COcapture is described, that includes one or more CO-sorbing amines, e.g., an amino acid salt and a tertiary or a sterically hindered amine. The solvent composition may include one or more promoters that are effective to enhance solvent characteristics such as (i) COsorption capacity, (ii) COsorption rate, (iii) COdesorption capacity, (iv) COdesorption rate, and (v) regeneration temperature, in relation to a corresponding solvent lacking the promoters. In relation to existing COcapture solvent compositions, the disclosed aqueous solvent composition provides high solvent COcapacity, high rate of COabsorption and desorption, high thermal and oxidative stability, low solvent regeneration energy, low solvent emissions, and low solvent toxicity.

High performance COcapture solvent compositions, and COcapture systems and processes utilizing same

A carbon dioxide reduction reaction electrocatalyst comprises a pyrolyzed copper-based metal-organic framework (MOF) that produces isopropanol from electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide. A process for producing isopropanol from electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide comprises applying a potential in an electrochemical cell in the range of about &#x2212;2V to about &#x2212;3V versus a silver chloride electrode.

Method of producing isopropanol from electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide and related copper-based electrocatalysts

Synthesis gas containing nitrogen as the majority component is processed to increase the hydrogen to carbon dioxide ratio. Nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other contaminants are subsequently removed by a purification unit to produce a purified hydrogen gas stream. A recycle stream within the purification unit helps achieve a hydrogen purity greater than 99.9 percent, and hydrogen recovery greater than 99 percent.

Methods for production of hydrogen

A gas-liquid contacting apparatus and method are described, in which at least one rotor assembly including packing is arranged in a contacting chamber containing at least one stator assembly including at least one heat exchanger arranged to thermally modulate the gas-liquid contacting so that each stator assembly is operatively arranged with each stator assembly to provide gas-liquid contacting at temperatures effective for mass exchange between the gas and liquid. The rotor and stator assemblies may be of annular shape, or may be of disk shape in a stacked array of rotor assemblies alternating with stator assemblies. Such apparatus and method are usefully employed for COcapture from CO-containing flue gases such as combustion effluents from power generation plants.

Rotating packed beds with internal heat transfer for absorption/regeneration applications

The present disclosure provides methods to use calcium cobalt zirconium perovskites as oxygen-selective sorbents for the separation of oxygen from a gas mixture such as air. Systems and high temperature oxygen detectors are also provided. In a preferred embodiment, the perovskite is configured as a membrane.

A method with corresponding systems for reducing emission of amines to the atmosphere. The method includes a a) introducing a gas containing COinto an absorber; b) flowing the flue gas through an absorber having an absorbent with a water-lean solution having less than 50% water and one or more amines, with the absorbent capturing the COand forming a reduced COcontent gas having a baseline COcontent; and c) washing the reduced COcontent gas in a wash column with a wash solution comprising carbonic acid formed by addition of gaseous COinto the wash solution. In this method, the washing removes the amines from the reduced COcontent gas and produces a reduced amine content gas exiting from the wash column.
