The water-based pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprises at least one interpolymer dispersed within an aqueous medium, the interpolymer comprising at least one unsaturated monomer and at least one compound selected from a group consisting of at least one conjugated acid, at least one ester of a conjugated acid, and mixtures thereof.

A formaldehyde free adhesive composition and a plywood obtained from the adhesive composition is provided, and the plywood has a balanced performance, such as high adhesion strength, sufficient pot-life, and good workability.
