Linear actuators, motor assemblies, and methods to actuate a device or load are presented. A linear actuator includes a piston having a piston slot and configured to linearly shift from a first position to a second position, and rotate as the piston shifts towards the first position. The linear actuator also includes an activating lever having a shoulder that the piston engages as the piston shifts to the second position, where the activating lever is configured to shift after piston engages the shoulder. The linear actuator also includes a retractable rail configured to shift from a first position downwards to a second position, and having a tab positioned in a groove of the piston slot as the piston shifts from the first position to the second position.

Linear actuators, motor assemblies, and methods to actuate a device or load

An actuator is provided that includes a housing, a linear actuating shaft disposed within the housing, a piston coupled with the shaft, and a fluid barrier disposed on an end of the shaft and encircled by the piston. The piston is movable longitudinally between an extended configuration and a retracted configuration upon rotation of the shaft. The fluid barrier engages an inner surface of the piston preventing fluid communication across the fluid barrier. The fluid barrier has a shaft engaging side which receives the shaft and a fluid facing side. A cavity is formed between the piston and the fluid facing side and expands when the piston moves to the extended configuration and contracts when the piston moves to the retracted configuration. A port is disposed in the piston and extends from the cavity to external the piston thereby permitting fluid communication between the cavity and external the piston.

A downhole tool is disclosed. The downhole tool may include an actuator having a housing, a shaft extending through at least a portion of the housing, and a nut movably disposed on the shaft. Further, the downhole tool may include a wiring conduit disposed in a helix shape around the shaft, and extending between the nut and a fixed position relative to the shaft. The wiring conduit may include a plurality of curved links. Each of the plurality of curved links may include a first hinge and a second hinge, the first hinge of a first curved link pivotably coupled to the second hinge of a second curved link. The downhole tool may also include a wire routed through the wiring conduit.

A well intervention tool for shifting a door structure within a well casing. The well intervention tool has independently shiftable keys which releasably engage with portions of the door structure. When the keys are engaged with the door structure, the well intervention tool can be used to move the door structure uphole and downhole. The well intervention tool can include a vibration motor to cause the keys to vibrate in order to displace debris within the door structure. The well intervention tool can include a rotational motor to cause the keys to rotate in order to displace debris within the door structure. The keys can have teeth which are shaped and spaced to shift debris while minimizing damage to the well casing.

Disclosed are shifting tools for opening and closing shifting sleeves. A disclosed completion system includes a completion string having a shifting sleeve movably arranged therein, a service tool configured to be arranged at least partially within the completion string and including a shifting tool having one or more shifting keys configured to mate with the shifting profile. When the shifting keys locate and mate with the shifting profile, an axial load applied on the service tool axially moves the shifting sleeve. If the shifting key is misaligned with a complementary shape of the shifting sleeve, a lower detent housing retracts toward an upper detent housing against a force of a detent spring to allow the shifting keys to retract while maintaining a radially outward force. If an axial load is removed, the housings are automatically retracted by a return spring, causing the shifting keys to disengage.

Electromechanical shifting tool

A collapsible wiring conduit can provide an extendable and retractable wired connection between moving components in a downhole tool, such as components moved relative to one another by a linear actuator. The collapsible wiring conduit can include links, hinges, stoppers, and wiring. The hinges can couple the links to one another. The links can be coupled end to end by the hinges. The stoppers can prevent the hinges from opening to or beyond a predetermined amount, such as preventing the hinges from opening to a 180-degree orientation. The wiring can be routed from link to link along the collapsible wiring conduit. In some aspects, the hinges are hollow, and the wiring is routed from link to link through the hollow hinges.

An adjustable print media path system and method are disclosed. In one form, the print media path system incorporates a frame and a guide member that is moveably coupled to the frame between a cartridge position and an external media position. Inserting print media into the receptacle moves the guide member between the external media position and the cartridge position, thereby adjusting the print media path.
