Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For example, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to predict a gain state for an initial acquisition procedure. For example, the UE may use a machine learning (ML) model to predict an initial gain state which is likely to result in a successful initial acquisition procedure (e.g., without adjusting the gain state and reattempting the initial acquisition procedure). The UE may input UE history data or crowdsourced data (e.g., from a local network or a cloud-based server) into the ML model to generate a predicted gain state which may be more likely to result in a successful initial acquisition (e.g., without reattempting the initial acquisition procedure). The UE may use the initial gain state generated by the ML model to attempt an initial acquisition procedure with a network entity.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. A user equipment (UE) may configure a first initial set of maximum transmit powers for a first subscriber module. The UE may configure a second initial set of maximum transmit powers for a second subscriber module. The UE may configure, independently of the configuration of the first maximum transmit power, a second maximum transmit power associated with the second connection. Various aspects relate to acquisition of system information (SI). In some examples, a UE uses a guard timer to control how long the UE attempts to acquire a particular type of SI. In some examples, a UE that has entered a cell may determine whether there are any remaining paging occasions (e.g., that may indicate an SI update) during a period of time. If there is an insufficient number of paging occasions remaining (e.g., zero or one), the UE may monitor for broadcast SI. In some examples, after sending a request for SI to a base station, a UE may also periodically monitor for SI broadcast by the base station (e.g., to avoid potential delays in obtaining the SI). In some examples, if a UE does not acquire SI, the UE may use default SIB information (e.g., that expedites reselection to another cell).

The UE may order the plurality of cells based at least in part on multiple factors including at least a cell selection condition, the cell selection condition indicating a threshold for the measurement for cell selection. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling for communications in a wireless communications system. The control signaling may indicate a first duration for an inactivity timer. The UE may initiate the inactivity timer and a second timer based on identifying a period of inactivity. The second timer may have a second duration that is shorter than the first duration for the inactivity timer. In some examples, the second duration may be based on one or more parameters, such as a display status, a battery status, a scaling factor, the first duration, an application state, or any combination thereof. The UE may release a connection for the communications in the wireless communications system based on an expiration of the second timer, an expiration of the inactivity timer, or a combination thereof.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may establish a communication link using a first serving beam on a secondary component carrier (SCC). Methods, systems and devices for wireless communications are described for differentiation between standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) cells in a wireless communications system. A user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of a subcarrier offset for a system information block (SIB). The SIB may be for a cell of a wireless communications network. The cell may be in accordance with a radio access technology. The UE may determine, based on the subcarrier offset for the SIB, whether the cell is configured as an SA cell or as an NSA cell for the radio access technology. The UE may communicate via the wireless communications network based on whether the cell is configured as an SA cell or as an NSA cell.

Differentiation between standalone and non-standalone cells in a wireless communications system

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for improving voice over new radio (VoNR)-to-voice over long term evolution (VoLTE). An example method generally includes communicating with and camping on a next generation node B (gNB) in a 5G new radio (NR) system; initiating a voice call with the gNB; receiving a 5G NR-to-long term evolution (LTE) handover command in response to initiating the voice call; performing a handover procedure in response to the handover command; detecting a failure in the handover procedure; and taking one or more actions in response to detecting the failure in the handover procedure.

Techniques for improving VoNR-to-VoLTE fallback

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to maintain multiple message buffers for storing public warning system (PWS) information. The UE may receive a first segment of public PWS information via a first cell, where the PWS information is associated with a geographical scope that includes the first cell. The UE may perform a cell change procedure from the first cell to a second cell different from the first cell, and may receive a second segment of the PWS information via the second cell. The UE may then store the first segment and the second segment within multiple message buffers based on the second cell being included within the geographical scope associated with the PWS information.

Techniques for handling public warning system information using multiple message buffers

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a UE and a network device for wireless communication. The UE sends an indication to a network device indicating a capability of receiving a PWS signal and/or a delay requirement for receiving the PWS signal. The UE receives, from the network device, a configured DRX cycle value associated with the indication and a paging signal corresponding to the PWS signal associated with the configured DRX cycle value. The network device determines whether the UE is capable of receiving the PWS signal and whether the UE desires to receive the PWS signal within a duration. The network device configures a DRX cycle value based on the determination and sends, to the UE, the configured DRX cycle value and a paging signal corresponding to the PWS signal based on the configured DRX cycle value. Paging techniques for balanced power savings and public warning system monitoring

A UE may, responsive to detecting a power-related condition, send a message to induce the master node to release the secondary node. Such a message can include a message reporting a radio link failure of the secondary node, or, if a channel quality indicator is configured for at least some of the secondary cells of the secondary node, reporting a low CQI value so that the network can cease scheduling on such cells. Alternatively, in a carrier aggregation (CA) mode, with the UE connected to a single node comprising a primary cell and one or more secondary cells, the UE may not control which and how many secondary cells with which it communicates. In such a scenario, if such secondary cells are configured for channel quality indicator reporting, the UE may report a low CQI value so that the node will cease scheduling data on such cells.
