The present invention provides a printed circuit board omni directional antenna. The omni directional antenna includes power dissipation elements. The power dissipation elements reduces the impact the power feed to the radiating elements has on the omni directional antenna's radiation pattern.

Multi-band omni directional antenna

A planar inverted F antenna having a radiating patch and a carrier is described. The radiating patch includes a blank, a first connector and a second connector. The first connector is formed from the blank material and provides a cutout region within the periphery of the radiating patch.

Planar inverted F antenna and method of making the same

A Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) and a radio module integrated into a single module. The present invention permits the PIFA to be removably secured on the top of a radio chip module. In one embodiment of the invention, a non-conductive antenna frame is removably secured to a radio chip. A radiating element or 'patch' is then secured to the top of the frame. The patch has feed and shorting pins connected thereto. The integrated radio/antenna system can be mounted on a PCB using standard surface-mount techniques and the feed and shorting pins can be soldered to the PCB. In another embodiment of the invention, a cover is removably secured to the frame to retain the patch on the frame. The cover has a window to permit the feed and shorting pins to be soldered to the PCB.

Integral antenna and radio system

The present invention provides a dual band single center feed dipole antenna by providing a conventional half-wave dipole antenna single band dipole antenna and loading the single band dipole antenna with two open circuit stubs or arms. The two open circuit stubs form a second half-wave dipole that resonates at a second frequency.

Dual band single feed dipole antenna and method of making the same

A stubby antenna comprising a RF conductive connector stud having opposite ends with the stud including means for mounting the antenna in the mounting hole of a communications device such as a cellular telephone. The stud is press-fitted into a body member with the body member having an opening or compartment formed therein which receives a coilform having a coil radiating element and a center wire. The coil radiating element is comprised of a plurality of first coils and a plurality of second coils with the first plurality of coils having a different pitch than the second plurality of coils. The center wire of the radiating element extends through the coils and through the actual bore formed in the coilform. A sheath encloses the body member with the sheath, body member, conductor stud and radiating element being arranged such that the radiating element is held in compression, ensuring that a good electrical contact is made between the connector stud and the radiating element.

GSM/DCS stubby antenna

A Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) and a radio module integrated into a single module. The present invention permits the PIFA to be removably secured on the top of a radio chip module. In one embodiment of the invention, a dielectric antenna frame is removably secured to a radio chip. A radiating element or &ldquo;patch&rdquo; is then secured to the top of the frame. The patch has feed and shorting pins connected thereto. The integrated radio/antenna system can be mounted on a PCB using standard surface-mount techniques and the feed and shorting pins can be soldered to the PCB. In another embodiment of the invention, a cover is removably secured to the frame to retain the patch on the frame. The cover has a window to permit the feed and shorting pins to be soldered to the PCB.

A dual feed internal antenna is disclosed which provides an internal antenna with multiple frequency response through the use of two or more internal antennas within one package. Each internal antenna has its own feed and ground connection. For example, a planar inverted F antenna provides response at cellular telephone frequencies and an inverted F antenna provides response at Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band of frequencies.

Dual feed internal antenna

A tunable PIFA antenna is disclosed for use with wireless communication devices. In three embodiments of the invention, a movable tuning member constructed of a high-dielectric constant material is selectively moved with respect to the feed and shorting pins of the antenna to vary the frequency response of the antenna. In the fourth embodiment, a slot is molded into the frame of the antenna. The size and position of the slot is varied by the molding tool to vary the frequency response of the antenna.
