One or more embodiments of the disclosure include a character management system that determines and utilizes contextual meaning with regard to standardized image characters. In particular, the character management system determines contextual meaning with regard to standardized characters based on the manner in which the standardized characters are utilized in a repository of electronic documents. Moreover, the character management system can utilize the contextual meaning to search, recommend, analyze, and translate with regard to the use of standardized image characters.

Determining and utilizing contextual meaning of digital standardized image characters

Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media can acquire a set of properties associated with a set of content items. A plurality of property combinations can be selected from the set of properties. A plurality of numbers of unique properties associated with the plurality of property combinations can be determined. A diversity metric for the set of content items can be generated based on at least some of the plurality of numbers of unique properties associated with the plurality of property combinations.

Architecture that augments a search result entry caption with keywords related to topics currently being shared and discussed in other social network information sources. The architecture obtains a link from updates of social topics of social network information sources (e.g., social networks for people places professionals, etc.), extracts title content of a document title associated with the link, compares the title content to document text for similarity to create non-duplicative content, creates keywords related to popular social topics from the non-duplicative content, and then augments a search result entry of a search result page with the keywords of the popular social topics.

Various scores are associated with users based on a variety of factors including activity levels with respect to social networking services, activity levels with respect to search engines, and interactions with other users in a social networking environment. The scores are used to compute a ranking for the users and, based on the rankings, a crawl list is prioritized such that content associated with the social networking environment is crawled at an appropriate time.
