In an example of the disclosure, first and second print jobs are received at a printer. The first and second print jobs each include production frames. The first and second print jobs are printed with a media roll change occurring during printing. A first finishing device information nonproduction ('FDIN') frame and a second FDIN frame are printed. The first and second FDIN frames include coded information regarding the first print job and the second print job, respectively. The coded information is for reading by a scanner at a finishing device. A press calibration nonproduction (“PCN”) frame that includes a printer calibration diagnostic is printed. A scanner at the printer is caused to capture the printer calibration diagnostic. A calibration operation is performed at the printer utilizing data or attributes captured from the printer calibration diagnostic.

Printing with media roll changes and nonproduction frames

In various examples, a master press and a slave press may be synchronized. A signal associated with the master press printing a first frame on a first web may be received. A point in time may be determined at which the slave press should begin printing, on a second web, a second frame corresponding to the first frame. The determining may be based on the signal associated with the master press and a first distance between the slave press and a downstream location at which the first and second webs converge. The slave press may be operated to begin printing the second frame at the point in time.

A printing device is provided, wherein the printing device includes a printing fluid reservoir configured to hold a volume of a printing fluid, a print head assembly configured to transfer the printing fluid to a printing medium, a conduit fluidically connecting the printing fluid reservoir and the print head assembly, and a printing fluid detector. The printing fluid detector includes first and second electrodes configured to be in contact with the printing fluid, and is configured to distinguish printing fluid from printing fluid froth by taking an impedance measurement across the first and second electrodes and comparing the impedance measurement to a froth threshold impedance value that is calibrated to a measured printing fluid temperature.

Printing device having a printing fluid detector

A fluid supply is provided, which includes a body defining a storage space configured to contain a fluid, a first electrode and a second electrode contained within the storage space and configured to be in direct contact with the fluid, wherein the first electrode and second electrode are configured to be connected to external power supply circuitry for applying an alternating signal across the first and second electrodes, and a first electrical contact in electrical communication with the first electrode and a second electrical contact in electrical communication with the second electrode. A printing device is provided, which is configured to print a printing fluid onto a printing medium. The printing device includes a printing fluid reservoir configured to hold a volume of the printing fluid, a print head assembly configured to transfer the printing fluid to the printing medium, a conduit fluidically connecting the printing fluid reservoir to the print head assembly, and a printing fluid detector associated with the conduit. The printing fluid detector includes a first electrode and a second electrode coupled with the conduit and configured to be in contact with printing fluid in the conduit, a power supply configured to apply an alternating supply signal to the first electrode, and detector circuitry configured to detect a measured impedance value related to the presence of printing fluid within the conduit by comparing the alternating supply signal with a detected signal that has been modified from the applied signal by an impedance characteristic of the printing fluid.

Printing device having a printing fluid detection system

Embodiments of the present invention include methods and apparatus for compensating for variations between different ink or toner characteristics, and for variations between sensors, by characterizing the ink or toner and storing one or more static threshold level on printer consumable memory devices during manufacture of the printer consumables. When installed in a printer, a dynamic threshold may be determined based on the static threshold level; the dynamic threshold accounting for variations between sensors and printers. The dynamic threshold may further be stored on the printer consumable memory device.
