A system and method for provisioning communications services. A remote device controlled by a user is linked with a provisioning system. A verbal selection of a menu associated with a library is received for performing one or more actions within the provisioning system. One or more verbal commands associated with the menu are received. A determination is made of an action within the library associated with the one or more verbal commands. The action associated with the one or more verbal commands is performed in the provisioning system to provision the communications services.

System and method for voice activated provisioning of telecommunication services

A first communication path for receiving a communication is established. The communication includes speech, which is processed. A speech pattern is identified as including a voice-command. A portion of the speech pattern is determined as including the voice-command. That portion of the speech pattern is separated from the speech pattern and compared with a second speech pattern. If the two speech patterns match or resemble each other, the portion of the speech pattern is accepted as the voice-command. An operation corresponding to the voice-command is determined and performed. The operation may perform an operation on a remote device, forward the voice-command to a remote device, or notify a user. The operation may create a second communication path that may allow a headset to join in a communication between another headset and a communication device, several headsets to communicate with each other, or a headset to communicate with several communication devices.

A method, apparatus, and computer usable program product for transmitting intercepted VOIP data are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A VOIP call is intercepted in response to a lawful request for intercept by a law enforcement agency. VOIP data associated with the intercepted VOIP call is encrypted. The encryption may use a virtual private network an encryption using a key of a specific length, bit stuffing, or other encryption methods. The encrypted VOIP data is transmitted to the law enforcement agency using a public data network either during the VOIP call or after the VOIP call. The intercept request may be made during the VOIP call, or before the VOIP call. Furthermore, the VOIP data of the VOIP call may be stored before transmitting to the law enforcement agency, and archived based on archiving rules. The request for the intercept may be queued for processing according to queuing rules. Notifications based on the request for intercept, VOIP call characteristics, or characteristics of the VOIP data may be sent to one or more law enforcement agencies, and may also be encrypted.

Method and apparatus for securely transmitting lawfully intercepted VOIP data

A system and method for enabling television watchers to 'channel surf' faster and reduce the amount of bandwidth used over a network to communicate television channels to end-users. Electronic programming guide information and images associated therewith may be communicated to an end-user. An image associated with a video program may be displayed on an electronic display (e.g., television) in response to an end-user selecting a channel prior to video programming being displayed. By displaying an image prior to the video programming, the end-user may determine whether he or she wants to watch the video program prior to the video programming being displayed, which improves the speed of 'channel surfing.' Because end-users can view the image when selecting a channel, a network can be configured to distribute the channels that are currently being watched rather than distributing many on a continuous basis, thereby preserving bandwidth.
