A pedal assembly for use in a motorized vehicle comprises a horizontal member, a pedal connected to the horizontal member at a first position, and a spring having a first end and a second end. The spring is connected at the first end to the pedal, and is connected at the second end to the horizontal member at a second position. Depressing the pedal within a first range of angles causes the spring to exert a reactive force within a first range of values increasing at a rate having a first maximum slope. Depressing the pedal within a second range of angles causes the spring to exert a reactive force within a second range of values increasing at a rate having a second maximum slope.

Pedal assembly for a motor vehicle

An articulating mechanism for opening and closing a vehicle door utilizes a first mechanism having a first motion profile and a second mechanism having a second motion profile. To open the door, the first mechanism begins the first motion profile before the second mechanism begins the second motion profile. To close the door, the second mechanism completes the second motion profile before the first mechanism completes the first motion profile.

Articulating mechanism for a vehicle door

A self-contained hinge mechanism is provided including a hinge movement control assembly. The hinge movement control assembly includes a number of stacked alternating friction rings and pressure disks providing a tunable pivoting resistance. As the hinge mechanism is actuated, an internal shaft and a set of friction rings rotationally-locked to the internal shaft and door moves relative to a set of pressure disks rotationally-locked to a fixed hinge mechanism housing and mount frame. A resistance to the pivoting of the hinge mechanism elements is provided by the clamping force of multiple force members moving the pressure disks along axial translation guides of the housing closer to one another and sandwiching the friction rings closer together.
