A method includes additively manufacturing a heat exchanger with a plurality of fluid passages extending in a flow direction through the heat exchanger. The method includes chemical milling interior surfaces of the plurality of fluid passages, wherein chemically milling includes flowing chemical milling fluid through an inlet of and inlet header to an outlet of the inlet header and into the plurality of fluid passages from the outlet of the inlet header. The inlet header includes a diffuser structure in fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet, configured to promote even distribution and flow of the chemical milling fluid from the outlet of the inlet header into the plurality of fluid passages.

Uniform chemical milling

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a system includes a liquid-gas separator. The liquid-gas separator includes: a substantially planar body configured to be seated in a fluid flow to separate a flow of liquid from the fluid flow, one or more apertures disposed in the body configured collect the flow of liquid, and one or more diverters integrally formed on or in the body configured divert the flow of liquid towards the one or more apertures. In certain embodiments, the planar body can be additively manufactured.

Air-water separator for condensing heat exchanger

A gas path component for a gas turbine engine includes a film cooling hole disposed in the gas path component. The film cooling hole includes a metering section, a diffuser, and a tapered surface extending between the metering section and the diffuser. The tapered surface is oriented between twenty degrees and seventy degrees with respect to a centerline axis of the metering section. The tapered surface is oriented at an obtuse angle with respect to an immediately adjacent surface of the diffuser, the obtuse angle is open towards the centerline axis. The tapered surface is configured to mitigate flow separation in the diffuser.

Systems and methods for manufacturing film cooling hole diffuser portion

An electrode for electrical discharge machining (EDM) may comprise a diffuser portion and a tapered portion defining the tip of the electrode. A method for forming a film cooling hole may comprise moving a tool with respect to a film cooled gaspath component, forming a diffuser of the film cooling hole in response to the moving, and forming a tapered surface between a metering section and the diffuser of the film cooling hole.

A component for a gas turbine engine including a body having at least one internal cooling cavity and a plurality of film cooling holes disposed along a first edge of the body. At least one of the film cooling holes includes a metering section defining an axis, and a diffuser section having a centerline. The centerline of the diffuser section is offset from the axis of the metering section.
