A pressure washer pump generally includes a pump housing that defines a cavity, an opening into the cavity and a bottom of the cavity generally opposite the opening. A valve assembly is disposed in the cavity through the opening. The valve assembly includes a cage member that contains a first valve mechanism. A plug member is received in the opening to fluidly seal the cavity of the pump housing. A compliant member is disposed between the plug member and the cage member. The cage member is disposed between the compliant member and the bottom of the cavity and spaced from the plug member.

A pressure washer wand having first and second valves that can be opened in a predetermined or user-adjustable manner through movement of a trigger. In one form, the first and second valves are opened sequentially in response to movement of a trigger to transition from a no-flow condition to a relatively low pressure flow and thereafter to a relatively high pressure flow. In another form, the sequencing of the valves can be changed such that only the first valve, which provides a relatively low pressure flow, is opened in response to movement of the trigger. A pressure washing system having the pressure washer wand is also provided.

An oilless high pressure pump suitable for use in devices such as pressure washers and the like is described. The pump includes an eccentric assembly suitable for converting rotary motion of a rotating shaft to rectilinear motion. One or more straps couple the eccentric assembly to a piston assembly. The straps communicate the rectilinear motion of the eccentric assembly to the piston assembly, reciprocating the piston assembly to pump the liquid.

A surface cleaner for assemblies having a spray nozzle such as pressure washers, spray wands, spray lances, and the like. The surface cleaner includes a guide having wheels in line with the spray nozzle for substantially maintaining the distance from the spray nozzle to a surface through a variety of angles assumed by the spray wand or the like. In exemplary embodiments, the guide is capable of being moved up and down the spray lance or the like for control of the cleaning force, and a set of markings may be provided on the guide, the spray lance, or the like for indicating the appropriate distance for the spray nozzle from many different surfaces. Additionally, the guide allows for one handed operation of the spray wand assembly.

Oilless high pressure pump

A high pressure pump suitable for use in devices such as pressure washers or the like is disclosed wherein the pump's head assembly includes an integral start valve for allowing the fluid through the head assembly so the engine may be more easily started. When the pump reaches a predetermined rate of flow of the fluid, the start valve assembly closes to circulate the fluid through said pump assembly.

An apparatus is described for capturing a bearing assembly in a device such as a high pressure pump or the like so that undesired pre-load within the bearing assembly is substantially reduced or eliminated. The apparatus is comprised of a fastener for capturing the bearing assembly by securing the bearing assembly to the shaft of the pump's eccentric assembly. A collet is disposed in the bearing assembly around the fastener. The fastener includes a tapered section for at least partially expanding the collet so that the collet engages the bearing assembly capturing the bearing assembly and controlling the amount of pre-load placed thereon.

A pump for a pressure washer. The pump includes a cam housing, a piston assembly disposed within the cam housing, a rotary shaft assembly disposed within the cam housing, a journal plate attached to the cam housing, a head assembly attached to journal plate and valve assembly operatively connected to the head assembly. The rotary shaft assembly includes a cam shaft, a vertically-extending oil tube partially disposed within a central portion of the cam shaft, a cam threaded onto the cam shaft and a thrust washer positioned adjacent the threaded cam. The piston assembly includes a plurality of pistons, preferably three, in mating contact with the thrust washer. Each piston includes a piston spring cap at one end, a spring disposed over the piston and engaging the piston spring cap, and a seal retainer having a low pressure seal at one end and a high pressure seal at the other end. The seal retainer includes an opening between the low pressure seal and the high pressure seal such that fluid passing through the high pressure seal is captured by the low pressure seal for recycling back into the head assembly. The head assembly, in combination with the valve assembly, forms a castellated assembly of a plurality of towers, preferably three, one for each piston. Each tower includes a low pressure valve assembly and a high pressure valve assembly that act as check valves. The low pressure valve assembly allows intake water to flow from the journal plate to a castellated tower channel. The high pressure valve assembly allows water to flow from the channel to the outlet fitting. The pressure washer can be mounted in either the vertical or horizontal orientation.
