A method and system for detecting a limit of use of a medical device is disclosed. The method includes starting a timer of a medical device when said medical device is used for the first time, detecting the limit of use of the medical device and indicating the limit of use of the medical device. The limit of use is reached when at least one of a first criterion and a second criterion is met, wherein the first criterion is that the timer reaches or exceeds a time limit and wherein the second criterion is that at least one operation of a drive train of said medical device reaches or exceeds a limit.

A computerized electro-mechanical drug delivery device configured to deliver at least one dose of two or more medicaments. The device comprises a control unit. An electro-mechanical drive unit is operably coupled to the control unit and a primary reservoir for a first medicament and a secondary reservoir for a fluid agent, e.g. a second medicament. An operator interface is in communication with the control unit. A single dispense assembly is configured for fluid communication with the primary and the secondary reservoir. A medicament delivery device is shown for the administration of one or more drug agents. The device has a priming mode and a drug delivery mode for administering delivery of the one or more drug agents. The device comprises a controller configured to set the device in a priming mode when one or more predetermined states of the device are identified and to disable the drug delivery mode during said predetermined state(s). When states of the device are different from said predetermined states, the controller can set the device in the drug delivery mode. A priming mode may still be enabled through a user interface.

According to one example disclosed herein, a method includes a detector feature determining an electrical property related to a coded material for a drug reservoir, wherein the coded material comprises at least one circuit. Described is a needle assembly reuse prevention mechanism comprising a barrier movable between a retracted position and an extended position, a spring coupled to the barrier, a pin formed on the barrier, and a slot receiving the pin. When in the extended position, the barrier substantially covers an opening of a needle assembly storage compartment. The spring forces the barrier in a first direction. The slot has at least one abutment face for abutting the pin and preventing movement of the barrier in the first direction.

A medicament delivery device is presented for the administration of one or more drug agents, wherein the device comprises a retainer for holding a medicament cartridge. The retainer is moveable between an open and closed position. A position sensor for generating a position output is indicative of whether the retainer is in the open or closed position. Further, a cartridge sensor generates a cartridge output indicative of whether the retainer is holding a medicament cartridge. A controller controls a predetermined operation of the device in dependence on the output of the position sensor and on the output of the cartridge sensor.
