A circular wave drive system is provided. In one aspect, the circular wave drive includes a compliant input ring gear having an inner surface having internal input ring gear teeth; an input cycloidal disc having an outer surface having external input cycloidal disc gear teeth oriented on the outer surface, and wherein the external input cycloidal disc gear teeth at least partially engage the internal input ring gear teeth; a compliant primary drive gear having an outer surface having external primary drive gear teeth; an eccentric motion generator including an eccentric portion and a non-eccentric portion and wherein a centerline of the eccentric portion and the non-eccentric portion are offset from one another; and an output cycloidal disc having an inner surface with internal output cycloidal disc teeth, and wherein the internal output cycloidal disc teeth at least partially engage the external primary drive gear teeth.

Circular wave drive

A circular wave drive system is provided. In one aspect, the drive comprises: a compliant input ring gear, wherein input ring gear includes internal input ring gear teeth; an input cycloidal disc having an outer surface, wherein the input cycloidal disc includes external input cycloidal disc gear teeth, and wherein the external gear teeth engage the internal gear teeth; a compliant primary drive gear having an outer surface, wherein the primary drive gear includes external primary drive gear teeth; an eccentric motion generator having an eccentric portion and a non-eccentric portion and wherein a centerline of the eccentric portion and the non-eccentric portion are offset, and wherein the eccentric motion generator includes a hollow central bore; and an output cycloidal disc, wherein the output cycloidal disc includes internal output cycloidal disc teeth, and wherein the internal output cycloidal disc teeth engage the external primary drive gear teeth.

A process is provided for electrochemical reduction, particularly the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to formate. According one embodiment, an electrochemical process includes the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to formate utilizing periodic pulsed anodic polarization, periodic pulsed deep cathodic polarization, or combinations thereof to remove cathodic deposits. Various polarization techniques are disclosed which improve overall Faradaic Efficiency.

Electrochemical process

A method and apparatus is provided for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to formate and formic acid. One embodiment features a three-compartment reactor which houses: a gas compartment; a catholyte compartment, which contains a porous cathode having a tin-based catalyst; and an anolyte compartment, which contains an anode having a mixed metal oxide catalyst. Further embodiments include a method for depositing tin onto a porous cathode, tin-zinc cathodes, a reaction method using an acidic anolyte, and pulsed polarization to extend reactor runtimes.

Method and apparatus for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide

According to one feature of the present invention, a method of manufacturing a porous catcher includes providing a catcher face material layer; forming pores in the catcher face material layer using a first etching process that is controlled by a first photolithographic mask; providing a reinforcing structure material layer that is in mechanical contact with the porous catcher face; forming openings in the reinforcing structure material layer using a second etching process that is controlled by a second photolithographic mask; and fluidically connecting the openings in the reinforcing structure and the pores of the catcher face using a material removal process.

Method of manufacturing a porous catcher

A catcher and a method of printing are provided. The catcher includes a liquid drop contact face. The liquid drop contact face includes an opening that creates an air cushion upon which liquid flows after a liquid drop contacts the drop contact face.

Catcher including drag reducing drop contact surface

A printhead includes a catcher and a negative pressure source. The catcher includes a liquid drop contact structure. The liquid drop contact structure includes a plurality of pores, each of the plurality of pores having a substantially uniform size when compared to each other. The plurality of pores have a critical pressure point above which air can displace liquid from the plurality of pores. The negative pressure source is in fluid communication with the plurality of pores of the liquid contact structure. The negative pressure source includes a pressure regulator to control the negative pressure such that the negative pressure remains below the critical pressure point of the plurality of pores of the liquid drop contact structure.

Printhead with porous catcher

A liquid drop ejector is disclosed including a nozzle structure and a thermal actuator. The nozzle structure includes a nozzle and a wall. The nozzle includes an end and the wall extends from the end of the nozzle. The thermal actuator is associated with at least one of the nozzle and the wall, and is operable to add surface energy to at least one of the nozzle and the wall to cause a directional change in a liquid flowing through the nozzle structure.

Printhead with liquid flow through device

An integrated orifice array plate and a charge plate is fabricated for a continuous ink jet print head by providing an electrically non-conductive orifice plate substrate having first and second opposed sides and an array of predetermined spaced-apart orifice positions. A plating seed layer is applied to the first of the opposed sides of the substrate, and an array of orifices is formed through the orifice plate substrate at the predetermined orifice positions. The orifices extend between the opposed sides. The plating seed layer is etched, leaving a portion of the plating seed layer adjacent to each of the predetermined orifice positions. A charge electrode is plated onto each of the portions of the plating seed layer.

Method of manufacturing an integrated orifice plate and electroformed charge plate

An integrated orifice array plate and a charge plate are fabricated for a continuous ink jet print head by producing an orifice plate and a charge plate, and by bonding the two together. The orifice plate is produced by providing an electrically non-conductive orifice plate substrate, forming a recessed-surface trench of predetermined depth into one of two opposed sides of the orifice plate substrate, and forming an array of orifices through the orifice plate substrate from the recessed surface of the trench to the other of the two opposed sides wherein the orifices are spaced apart by a predetermined distance. The charge plate is produced by providing an electrically non-conductive orifice plate substrate of predetermined thickness, and forming a plurality of charging leads on one of two opposed sides of the orifice plate substrate. The charge leads are spaced apart by said predetermined distance.

Integrated charge and orifice plates for continuous ink jet printers

A charge plate is fabricated for a continuous ink jet printer print head by applying an etch-stop to one of the opposed sides of an electrically non-conductive substrate. An array of charging channels are etched into the substrate through the etch-stop layer adjacent to predetermined orifice positions. The charging channels are passivated by depositing a dielectric insulator into the charging channels; and electrical leads are formed by coating the passivated charging channels with metal. A second etch-stop layer is applied to the other of the opposed sides of the substrate, and an array of orifices is formed through the orifice plate substrate at the predetermined orifice positions. The orifices extend between the opposed sides.
