A base for an infant transport system is provided. The base may include a frame having opposed side walls. In some aspects, the frame is configured to be secured to a portion of an automobile. The base may further include a pair of wheel guards that are each wheel removably coupled to one of the opposed side walls of the frame.

A system to transport infant children is provided. The system includes a base configured to be secured to a portion of an automobile; a chassis independent from the base; a first release mechanism releasably coupling the chassis to the base; an infant car seat independent from the base and the chassis; a second release mechanism releasably coupling the infant car seat to the chassis; wherein the chassis and the infant car seat are releasable from the base as a combined unit upon operation of the first release mechanism; and wherein the infant car seat is releasable from the combined unit of the base and chassis upon operation of the second release mechanism.

Infant transport system and assembly

A convertible stroller is provided that includes a shell configured to support an infant. A pair of rear legs are pivotally coupled to the shell and a pair of front legs are pivotally coupled to a respective rear leg. The rear legs and the front legs are retractable to a first transport condition, and deployable away from the shell to a second transport condition usable as a stroller. A front wheel may be coupled to each front leg that is rotatable about a horizontal axle in the second transport condition. Each front wheel has a post that acts as an axis of rotation in the second transport condition. A cam sleeve is provided that is movably disposed on each post. In a first position, the cam sleeve allows rotation about the axis of rotation, and in the second transport condition prevents rotation of the front wheel about the axis of rotation.

A handle assembly for an infant carrier is provided. The handle assembly allows the handle to be oriented in one of a plurality of positions, such as a stroller position, and infant carrier position and a car seat position. The handle assembly may include a locking mechanism allowing a handle extension to be extended only when the handle rotated to the stroller position. The handle assembly may also include a blocking mechanism that prevents the handle from rotating from the stroller position if the handle is extended.
