A stacked plurality of alternating laminations and adhesive layers of a rotor are arranged such that each of the adhesive layers bonds an outer periphery of an adjacent pair of the laminations together. Each of the laminations includes a plurality of interlocks, disposed about a central region of the lamination radially inside the outer periphery and lacking presence of any of the adhesive layers, that engage a same adjacent one of the laminations.

A vehicle is provided with a transmission having an inductor assembly. The inductor assembly is mounted within the transmission such that it is directly cooled by transmission fluid through at least one of spraying, splashing and immersion. The transmission includes at least one gear that is configured to, when rotating, transmit torque between an input and output of the transmission and splash fluid onto the inductor assembly to cool the inductor assembly.

In one example, the method adjusts torque of an electric machine in response to a estimated torque capacity of the driveline disconnect clutch. The estimated torque capacity of the driveline disconnect clutch is based on a combined inertia of a dual mass flywheel and the driveline disconnect clutch.

An electric machine includes a cylindrical stator core and a cylindrical housing having an inner diameter. The core has an outer surface and a plurality of projections extending therefrom. An outer diameter of the core measured between tips of diametrically opposing projections is greater than the inner diameter. The core is disposed in the housing with the tips engaging the inner diameter to create an interference fit between the core and housing to reduce housing resonance.

A hybrid electric vehicle includes a traction battery, traction motor and power inverter therebetween. The power inverter converts the DC power of the traction battery to AC power to drive each phase of the traction motor. The power inverter includes Insulated Gate Bipolar junction Transistors (IGBTs) to modulate the power to the traction motor. The speed at which the IGBTs are modulated impacts the system performance including power loss, voltage overshoot and current overshoot. Using a dual emitter IGBT to provide a current mirror of the drive current, circuitry may be used with the gate drive circuitry such that the gate drive speed may be dynamically adjusted based on characteristics including temperature and traction motor rotational speed.

A vehicle is provided with a transmission and an inductor assembly that is mounted within a chamber of the transmission. The inductor assembly includes a coil, a core and an insulator having first and second portions that are oriented toward each other. Each portion includes a base, a support extending from the base, and a spool extending transversely from the support to engage the other portion. Each spool includes an external surface for supporting the coil and a cavity extending therethrough for receiving the core.
