Disclosed is a thermoplastic polymer composition of polyamide including: A) polyamide composition comprising, a) 55-90 weight percent semi-crystalline, semi-aromatic co-polyamide, and b) 10-45 weight percent aliphatic homo-polyamide; B) 5-40 weight percent of co-grafted polymeric toughener; wherein the co-grafted polymeric toughener is a co-grafted blend of polyolefins with at least two glass transition temperatures and obtained from the blend of polyolefins and a reactive monomer; C) 0-15 weight percent one or more plasticizers; D) 0-2.5 weight percent one or more antioxidants and or a heat stabilizer; E) 0 to 5 weight percent of additives selected from the group consisting of flame retardant, UV stabilizer, light stabilizer, thermal stabilizer, lubricant, colorant or the like. Further disclosed herein is a process for providing the composition and its application.

Thermoplastic polymer composition having improved mechanical properties

The present invention relates to a process comprising the step of melt-mixing a semi-aromatic polyamide (A) having a melting point on second heating of 295&#xb0; C. or less comprising terephthalamide repeat units and a polyamide oligomer (B) comprising terephthalamide repeat units and having an amine end group concentration of less than 2000 me q/Kg and an inherent viscosity of at least 0.10, at a temperature which is greater than the melting point on first heating of both semi-aromatic polyamide (A) and polyamide oligomer (B) for a time period sufficient to produce semi-aromatic polyamide (C) having a melting point on second heating which is greater than or equal to 300&#xb0; C.

Polyamide compositions with improved salt resistance and heat stability

Multilayered polyamide composite articles comprising at least three layers that comprise aliphatic and semi-aromatic polyamides and that is better able to retain its mechanical properties at high temperatures and over long times are disclosed. Layers comprising aliphatic polyamides may optionally contain oxidation stabilizers. The articles may be in the form of tubes incorporated into a heat exchanger. Processes for their preparation are also provided.

Multilayered composite polyamide articles and processes for their preparation

A heat exchanger comprising plates of thermoplastic tubes arranged in a way which minimizes the thermal resistance at the outer surface of the tubes preferably to not more than 5 times the resistance to heat transfer at the inside of the tubes. The tubes are arranged in the tube plates in groups that can be flat or slightly wavy, such as undulating in a periodic manner, or offset with open spaces facing groups of tubes in alternating rows. This is done in a way that maximizes turbulence outside the tubes and minimizes vortices which can trap coolant in the interstices between tubes.

Plastic tube-type heat exchanger structures are made with partially crystallized partially aromatic polyamides of high glass transition temperature. The structures are then annealed to further crystallize the polyamides, causing shrinkage and building up residual tensile stresses. These stresses counteract the swelling caused by water absorption and temperature rise during use of the heat exchanger and keep the structures dimensionally stable.
