Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are disclosed by the present application. A request to establish a call using a first connection may be received, the first connection using a first radio access technology to communicate with a radio access network. During execution of a procedure to establish the call, a command to handover communications from the first connection to a second connection that uses a second radio access technology to communicate with the radio access network may be received. The second connection may be established in response to the command, and a message indicating that the request to establish the call was successfully received may be transmitted over the second connection. Also, a message indicating that an alert of the call is being issued may be transmitted over the second connection.

Fast retransmission during handover

A UE employing carrier aggregation receives an uplink grant from a wireless communication system base station for each of a plurality of Physical Uplink Shared CHannel (PUSCH) component carriers. The UE orders each PUSCH component carrier for transmission based at least in part on the uplink grant. The UE ranks logical channels for uplink transmission; and then builds transport blocks comprising data of higher ranked logical channels on higher ordered component carriers. The UE can then transmit the transport blocks across the component carriers to the base station.

Building transport blocks in wireless networks

Aspects disclosed in the detailed description include power saving techniques in computing devices. In particular, as data is received by a modem processor in a computing device, the data is held until the expiration of a modem timer. The data is then passed to an application processor in the computing device over a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) interconnectivity bus. On receipt of the data from the modem processor, the application processor sends data held by the application processor to the modem processor over the PCIe interconnectivity bus. The application processor also has an uplink timer. If no data is received from the modem processor before expiration of the uplink timer, the application processor sends any collected data to the modem processor at expiration of the uplink timer. However, if data is received from the modem processor, the uplink timer is reset.

Power saving techniques in computing devices

Aspects of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for fast hyper frame number (HFN) resynchronization of Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Protocol Data Units (PDUs). A wireless communication device (e.g., a PDCP entity at a wireless communication device) can calculate a current PDCP count of a current PDCP PDU of a plurality of PDCP PDUs received from a radio link control (RLC) sublayer based on a PDCP sequence number (SN) of the current PDCP PDU and an HFN of a first missing PDCP PDU after a successfully received PDCP PDU. The PDCP count may be calculated using the HFN of the first missing PDCP PDU in response to a gap between the PDCP count of the first missing PDCP PDU and the actual PDCP count of the current PDCP PDU being greater than a PDCP window size.

Hyper frame number (HFN) resynchronization of packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data units

A wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device includes a memory and a processor in electronic communication with the memory. The processor is configured to determine a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packet count corresponding to a last radio link control (RLC) packet received in-sequence. The processor is also configured to detect a missing PDCP packet based on a comparison of the PDCP packet count and a sequence number of a last PDCP packet received in-sequence.

Layered missing packet detection

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for a high priority route selection descriptor (RSD) selection timer. A protocol data unit (PDU) session may be established for an application associated with a user equipment (UE). If the PDU session is associated with a lower RSD priority than the highest RSD priority for the application, the UE may initiate an RSD selection timer. After expiration of the RSD selection timer, the UE may try to establish another PDU session for the application with the highest RSD priority for the application. If another PDU session with the highest RSD priority is accepted, the UE may release the initial PDU session with the lower RSD priority and establish a new PDU session with the highest RSD priority. Such implementations may increase data rates, quality of service, and reliability for the application, decrease latency of the application, or decrease power consumption of the UE.

High priority route selection descriptor (RSD) selection timer

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for reliable transmission of system information (SI). In some cases, a UE may send an indication to request SI in an on-demand manner. For example, a method for wireless communications by a UE may include determining system information (SI) desired by the UE is not currently being broadcast. The method for further include sending, in response to the determination, a first indication to request the SI, and sending a second indication to confirm reception of the requested SI or to indicate the UE has not received the requested SI after a time period.

Reliable delivery of system information

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may establish, using a first subscription of the UE, a first communication connection associated with a first service. The UE may establish, using a second subscription of the UE, a second communication connection associated with a second service. The UE may operate in a dual subscriber identity module (SIM) dual active (DSDA) mode based at least in part on establishing the first communication connection and establishing the second communication connection. The UE may perform an action to maintain concurrent services, including the first service and the second service, while operating in the DSDA mode. Numerous other aspects are described.

Maintaining concurrent services in a dual active mode

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter network node may generate a grouping descriptor, for a transport block, that indicates grouping information for a plurality of protocol data units (PDUs) in the transport block. The transmitter network node may transmit the grouping descriptor with the transport block. Numerous other aspects are described.

Transport block descriptor for packet grouping

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for packet buffering. A method that may be performed by a receiving node includes dynamically determining one or more time durations to buffer packets. The one or more time durations can be different than a time duration of a configured timer for buffering the packets. The receiving node may input one or more parameters to a machine learning algorithm and obtain, as output of the machine learning algorithm based on the input one or more parameters, one or more time durations to buffer packets. The receiving node buffers packets for the determined one or more time durations. The receiving node may use machine learning to dynamically determine the one or more time durations to buffer packet. The buffering may be at a radio link control (RLC) reassembling buffer and/or a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) buffer.

Dynamic packet buffering duration

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A system may support techniques for triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information (UAI) based on mobility, wake up signal (WUS) configuration, or both. In some cases, a UE may communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station) on a first channel according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The UE may determine that a speed of the UE satisfies a mobility threshold and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the speed of the UE satisfying the mobility threshold. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive signaling configuring the UE to monitor for WUSs and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the WUS configuration. The UE may receive control signaling configuring the DRX configuration with the one or more requested parameters in response to the UAI.

Triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information based on mobility and wake up signal (WUS) configuration

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may communicate on a first set of carriers in a first frequency range (FR) and a second set of carriers in a second FR. The UE may detect a radio link control (RLC) discontinuity on at least one of the first set of carriers or the second set of carriers. The UE may identify one or more FRs, of the first FR and the second FR, in which the RLC discontinuity occurred. The UE may transmit an RLC status report based at least in part on the identified one or more FRs. Numerous other aspects are described.

Carrier aggregation for mixed frequency ranges

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for receive chain selection at a user equipment (UE) with efficient switching between a reduced number of receive chains and an increased number of receive chains for downlink communications based on conditions at the UE. A UE may adaptively adjust the number of active receive chains based on downlink grant activity, channel conditions, network parameters, or any combinations thereof. An estimator block at the UE may determine to adjust the number of receive chains based on a number of downlink grants within one or more time periods. In some cases, grants for an amount of data that exceeds a threshold may be qualified in order to be counted at the estimation block. Further, a transient state may be provided where the UE may maintain a higher number of active receive chains until UE feedback is provided.

Receive diversity techniques in wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message indicating a resource configuration for uplink and downlink transmissions. The UE may determine an uplink buffer threshold for a modem buffer of the UE based on the resource configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a feedback request message requesting that the base station provide feedback for at least one previously transmitted uplink packet based on a comparison of an amount of previously transmitted uplink data and scheduled uplink data stored in the modem buffer relative to the uplink buffer threshold. The UE may receive, based on transmitting the feedback request message, a feedback response message corresponding to a first previously transmitted uplink packet of the at least one previously transmitted uplink packet.

Controlling modem memory used by uplink data

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for managing scheduling requests (SRs) in a user equipment (UE) that supports a split data radio bearer (DRB). In some aspects, the UE may trigger a first SR for a first communication link and a second SR for a second communication link in response to determining that a first amount of data in the UE data buffer is greater than a first threshold. The UE may transmit the first SR to a first base station (BS) via the first communication link. Prior to transmission of the second SR, the UE may determine whether a second amount of data in the UE data buffer is less than a second threshold. The UE may cancel the second SR in response to the second amount of data in the UE data buffer being less than the second threshold.
