As an example, the unified list can be generated from OTT channels and from over-the-air OTA and/or Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) channels.

A technique is described for generating a unified list (e.g., a list ribbon) of programs from a variety and disparate channels, the list for display on an over-the-top (OTT) client device. As an example, the unified list can be generated from OTT live channels and from over-the-air OTA and/or Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) live channels. Further, the unified list can include OTT recordings on the cloud and OTA/ATSC recordings on the local hard drive connected to an OTA local DVR. Thus, the OTT device Client obtains the list from the DVR backend, instead of going to the local OTA client box for the local recordings.

A system may include a first content access device that includes a first storage component, a first communications component operable to receive first content, and a first hardware processor operable to access a second content access device, control the second content access device, provide a first content to the second content access device, and swap a presentation of the second content on the second presentation device with a presentation of the first content on the second presentation device. As one example, the systems, devices and processes can be used to prevent timing adjustments from being made in one or more video player devices during the displaying of commercials and/or certain live content on the video player devices.
