A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to transmit uplink control information such as Hybrid Automatic Retransmission Request (HARQ) Acknowledgement or Negative Acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) using a sequence. The HARQ ACK/NACK may comprise one bit or two bits of information, and the WTRU may use a cyclic shift of the sequence to transmit the HARQ ACK/NACK. The WTRU may use different cyclic shifts of the sequence to transmit different HARQ ACK/NACK values and the cyclic shifts may be separated from each other in a manner to facilitate the transmissions. The WTRU may be further configured to receive, from a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), an indication of a resource block for transmitting the HARQ ACK/NACK.

Methods, systems, and apparatus for transmitting uplink control information

A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may send a grant free transmission comprising a first and a second part, each of which may be associated with a priority. The first part's priority may be higher than the second part's priority. The WTRU may select a first back of value from a first range of back off values. The WTRU may determine whether the grant free transmission was successful. If the grant free transmission was not successful, the WTRU may send a retransmission of the grant free transmission, which may include the first part and may not include the second part. The retransmission may select a second back off value from a second range of back off values, which may be a larger than the first range of back off values. The second back off value may indicate the number of grant free resource to skip prior to sending the retransmission.

Grant-free uplink transmissions

A method and apparatus are described for a low cost machine-type-communication (LC-MTC) wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to enhance coverage. An example method for physical broadcast channel (PBCH) enhancement includes receiving system information on an enhanced PBCH (ePBCH). The ePBCH is located in a set of radio frames which is a subset of available radio frames, where the subset includes fewer than all the available radio frames. The ePBCH is received in at least one radio frame of the set of radio frames. An example method for physical random access channel (PRACH) enhancement includes receiving configuration of legacy PRACH resources and enhanced PRACH (ePRACH) resources. The WTRU selects one of legacy PRACH resources or ePRACH resources based on a coverage capability. Another example method for PRACH enhancement includes receiving configuration of ePRACH resources. The ePRACH resources include multiple ePRACH resource types, each ePRACH resource type being associated with a coverage capability.

Method and apparatus for enhancing coverage of machine type communication (MTC) devices

A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may receive a physical control channel transmission including control information for a data transmission. The WTRU may determine between a first type of waveform and a second type of waveform for the data transmission based on at least a format of the control information. Further, the WTRU may transmit the data transmission using the determined type of waveform. In an example, the type of waveform is further determined based on indication information included in the physical control channel transmission. Also, the first type of waveform may be an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) waveform and the second type of waveform is a discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM) waveform. Moreover, the determination between the first type of waveform and the second type of waveform may be further based on an indication to use the DFT-S-OFDM waveform.

Method and apparatus for physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) design in new radio (NR)

Method and apparatuses for communication over an unlicensed band are provided herein. A method may comprise transmitting transport blocks in each slot of a plurality of slots and determining a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) status for each of the transmitted transport blocks. The method may further comprise determining a weighting coefficient for each of the determined HARQ statuses and calculating, based on the determined HARQ statuses and weighting coefficients, a weighted average of the HARQ statuses for the transmitted transport blocks. The method may further comprise adjusting a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) contention window size based on the calculated weighted average of the HARQ statuses.

Methods for contention window size adjustment in unlicensed spectrum

A method implemented by a Wireless Transmit/Receive Unit (WTRU) includes receiving a DeModulation Interference Measurement (DM-IM) resource, determining an interference measurement based on the DM-IM resource, and demodulating a received signal based on the interference measurement. An interference is suppressed based on the interference measurement. At least one DM-IM resource is located in a Physical Resource Block (PRB). The DM-IM resource is located in a PRB allocated for the WTRU. The DM-IM resource is a plurality of DM-IM resources which form a DM-IM pattern, and the DM-IM pattern is located on a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) and/or an enhanced Physical Downlink Shared Channel (E-PDSCH) of at least one Long Term Evolution (LTE) subframe. The DM-IM resources are different for different Physical Resource Blocks (PRB) in the LTE subframe. The DM-IM is located in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) Resource Block (RB), and the DM-IM pattern is adjusted.

Methods, systems and apparatuses for operation in long-term evolution (LTE) systems are provided, including a method implemented in a base station that may include receiving, from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) via a first interface, a first message including radio capability information associated with the WTRU; transmitting, to a mobility management entity (MME) via a second interface, a second message including the radio capability information; receiving, from the MME via the second interface, a paging message including the radio capability information; and determining whether to page the WTRU in idle mode based on the radio capability information. Also provided is another method implemented by a WTRU in a vicinity of a dormant cell. This method may include any of: receiving, from a dormant cell, a signal; receiving, from a serving cell, a trigger to initiate measurement of one or more dormant cells; and measuring the signal.

Methods, systems and apparatuses for operation in long-term evolution (LTE) systems

Methods and apparatus for beam refinement are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to receive configuration information. The configuration information may indicate an association between preambles, synchronization signal blocks (SSBs), reference signal (RS) sets, and physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resources. The WTRU may be configured to receive a plurality of SSBs, determine a measurement of the received SSBs, and select an SSB based on the determined measurement. The WTRU may be configured to select and transmit a preamble using a first beam. The WTRU may be configured to receive a plurality of sets of RSs based on the transmitted preamble and determine a measurement of the received sets of RSs. The WTRU may be configured to select a RS based on the determined measurement of the received sets of RSs. The WTRU may be configured to transmit uplink data on a PUSCH using a second beam.

Methods and apparatus for msg-A transmission in two-step RACH

Methods, systems, and devices for addressing timing advance (TA) in non-terrestrial network communication is disclosed herein. A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) may receive system information from a base station attached to an airborne or spaceborne vehicle that indicates a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource. The WTRU may determine a timing offset based on a plurality of information, such as the location information and the system information. The WTRU may transmit a preamble using the timing offset via the PRACH resource. The base station may receive the preamble and send a random access response (RAR) that includes, for example, a TA command. The WTRU may receive the RAR including the TA command and combine the timing offset with the TA command to determine an actual TA, after which the WTRU may use the actual TA for uplink transmissions.

Timing advance for non-terrestrial network communication

Systems, methods and instrumentalities are disclosed for beam-based PDCCH Transmission in NR. Control resource sets may be assigned for multi-beam control transmission. A PDCCH may be transmitted with multiple beams. CCEs may be mapped for multi-beam transmission. DCI may support multi-dimensional transmission with primary and secondary dimensions. Search space may support multi-beam, multi-TRP transmission.

Beam-based PDCCH transmission in NR

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are described herein that may be used to determine one or more control channel operational parameters associated with transmitting first uplink control information (UCI) and second UCI in a same control channel. The parameters may include respective repetition factors and/or spreading factors associated with the first UCI and the second UCI. The parameters may be determined based on respective characteristics of the first UCI and the second UCI. These characteristics may include reliability requirements, usage scenarios, and/or the like. Self-contained subframes may be employed to transmit data and/or control information. The control information may be transmitted using different numerologies than the data.

Control channel for new radio

Embodiments contemplate methods, systems, and apparatuses for interference measurement in a wireless communication network, including wireless communication networks the employ MIMO in uplink and/or downlink communication. Embodiments contemplate identifying one or more interference measurement resource elements that may be received from one or more transmission points. Embodiments also contemplate performing interference measurement estimation based at least in part on the identified one or more interference measurement resource elements. Channel state information (CSI) perhaps in the form of reports may be generated based at least in part on the one or more interference measurement estimation. Embodiments also contemplate that the CSI report may be transmitted to one or more nodes. In some embodiments, the one or more interference measurement resource elements may be received as part of a set of resource elements.

Interference measurement in wireless networks

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a first higher layer configuration for a cancellation indication (CI). Further, the first higher layer configuration may include a set of reference frequency resources. Also, the WTRU may receive a grant indicating a frequency allocation and a time allocation for a scheduled transmission. Further, on a condition that the CI is received, the WTRU may interrupt the scheduled transmission. Additionally, the CI may indicate a subset of frequency resources of the set of reference frequency resources for each of a set of time symbols. Also, the WTRU may cancel the scheduled transmission on a condition that the subset of frequency resources of a set of time symbols overlaps with the frequency allocation and the time allocation for the scheduled transmission. In a further example, the first higher layer configuration may include an applicable maximum priority and the grant may include a priority index.

Methods and apparatus for uplink (UL) multiplexing and prioritization in new radio (NR) communication

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a downlink transmission and send a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission in each resource block (RB) of an interlace of a plurality of RBs in an active bandwidth part (BWP). A base sequence is mapped to the PUCCH transmission repetitively, once to each RB of the plurality of RBs of the interlace, using a different cyclic shift of the base sequence for each RB. Each different cyclic shift of the base sequence in the PUCCH transmission to each RB is a function of a RB index of the respective RB. The PUCCH transmission indicates either an acknowledgement (ACK) or a negative ACK (NACK) of the received downlink transmission.

Short physical uplink control channel (sPUCCH) structure

Methods and apparatus for transmitting a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit a random access channel (RACH) message-A to a gNB. The WTRU may receive a RACH message-B from the gNB in response to the message-A. The message-B may comprise downlink control information (DCI). The WTRU may decode a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on the DCI. The WTRU may determine that contention resolution is successful. The WTRU may determine a resource for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). The WTRU may transmit a HARQ-ACK over the determined PUCCH resource. The WTRU may determine the resource for the PUCCH based on a PUCCH resource index. The PUCCH resource index may be based on a random access preamble index (RAPID) and a PUCCH resource indicator (PRI).
