Examples provided herein describe a method for managing power consumption of a network. For example, a network device may monitor a set of network area zones of a network coverage area, where each network area zone is associated with a set of edge devices. A first occupancy state may be determined for a first network area zone of the set of network area zones based on usage of a first set of edge devices of the first network area zone. Based on the determined first occupancy state, a first power consumption policy for the first network area zone may be determined. Responsive to determining the first power consumption policy, the determined first power consumption policy may be applied to the first set of edge devices in the first network area zone at least edge changing a power consumption mode of a first edge device in the first set of edge devices.

Systems and methods are provided for optimizing the channel switching process in an access point. Periodic background scanning of a current channel on which a radio is operating to determine channel utilization can be used to generate a ranked channel list from which to select an alternative channel to which the radio can migrate, for example, in the event of a radar signal(s) being detected on its current channel. To maintain connectivity for clients, the clients may be temporarily transitioned to a non-DFS channel while an isolated/dedicated radio chain is used to perform the requisite Channel Availability Check (CAC) assessment on a DFS channel if the radio, based on the ranked channel list, selects a DFS channel as the alternative channel.

Example implementations relate to partitioning a radio into chains to scan channels. In some examples, a network device may comprise a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to partition a default radio of the network device into a service chain and a scan chain in response to a scan request, scan a particular channel with the scan chain to discover devices operating on the particular channel of a network, and combine the service chain and the scan chain into the default radio.

A method including selecting multiple dedicated radios on a transmission channel and programming multiple association identifiers on each dedicated radio is provided. Each of the association identifiers is configured to detect a resource unit assigned to one of multiple stations. The method includes providing multiple packets collected from the dedicated radios to a server and merging the packets from the dedicated radios to identify at least one station. Merging the packets includes identifying a preamble in the packets from the dedicated radios, matching the preamble from different dedicated radios, combining a data portion of the packets from different dedicated radios whose preamble match, selecting a time-stamp from one of the dedicated radios, and associating the time-stamp with the data portion. A system and a non-transitory, computer readable medium storing instructions to perform the above method are also provided.

An example system may include a plurality of wireless radio chains of a radio operating at a channel in a wireless network and a processor to receive a ranging measurement request for a client device not associated with the wireless network, split a subset of wireless radio chains from the plurality of the wireless radio chains, and use the subset of wireless radio chains to service the ranging measurement request.

Example implementations relate to a radio interrupt reboot. For example, an apparatus may include a first processing resource connected via an interface to a second processing resource. The first processing resource may execute instructions to receive an interrupt generated by a radio coupled to the second processing resource, increment a counter in response to receiving the interrupt during a configurable time interval, and determine that the counter has not been incremented during a threshold number of configurable time intervals. The first processing resource may execute instructions to reboot the first processing resource and the second processing resource in response to the determination that the counter has not been incremented during the threshold number of configurable time intervals.

Example implementations relate to multicast multi-user grouping. For example, an apparatus may comprise a processing resource that may rank a plurality of stations associated with the apparatus based on a characteristic associated with a first multicast group containing a first set of stations among the plurality of stations, and a characteristic associated with a second multicast group containing a second set of stations among the plurality of stations. The processing resource may assign a first group of stations from the first multicast group and the second multicast group to a first multi-user group and assign a second group of stations from the first multicast group and the second multicast group to a second multi-user group. The processing resource may convert a multicast frame associated with a station from the first multi-user group to a unicast frame, and transmit the unicast frame to each station in the first multi-user group.

In some examples, a non-transitory machine-readable medium can include instructions executable by a processing resource of a network device to: receive a first message on a communication band from a first wireless client device; determine a capability complying with a particular wireless specification of the first wireless client device based on information in the first message; split communication channels on the communication band into a first communication channel group and a second communication channel group; and operate the first communication channel group in accordance with the particular wireless specification and the second communication channel group in accordance with other wireless specifications.

An example access point may include a memory and a processor executing instructions from the memory to receive an instruction to start a scan on a different wireless communication channel than an operating channel of the access point; transmit a Clear To Send-to-self frame on the operating channel of the access point, to notify client devices associated with the AP and at least a neighboring AP that the operating channel is busy, wherein the control frame includes a basic service set color associated with the access point; scan on the different wireless communication channel subsequent to transmitting the Clear To Send-to-self frame; and defer a subsequent data transmission received from the client devices in response to the data transmission including the basic service set color associated with the access point.

In some examples, a method can include transmitting, with an Access Point (AP), Request to Send (RTS) frames to a wireless client over a wireless medium; determining, with the AP, whether the medium is reserved by failed RTS frames for the client; and transmitting, with the AP, a frame to clear the medium when it is determined that the medium is reserved by failed RTS frames for the client.
