Apparatus for securing a therapy delivery device relative to a burr hole and method for making same. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a base for seating in or near the burr hole. The apparatus may further include a stabilizer that may be engaged with the therapy delivery device. The stabilizer may include a surface coating or treatment operable to enhance frictional engagement with the therapy delivery device.

Apparatus for securing a therapy delivery device within a burr hole and method for making same

A method of making a therapy delivery element configured for at least partial insertion in a living body is disclosed. A conductor structure is coiled around a mandrel. A segment of the conductor structure is secured to the mandrel. After this, an outer tubular structure is positioned around the conductor structure. Portions of the conductor structure that are not secured are free to expand to an inside surface of the outer tubular structure. A lumen is formed by removing at least a portion of the mandrel.

Manufacturing method of a dynamic coil for implantable stimulation leads

In some examples, a lead identification system includes a first set of first lead indicators and a second set of second lead indicators. Each of the first lead indicators is configured to removably attach to at least one of a first therapy delivery element, a first epidural needle, or a first connector to uniquely identify at least one of the first therapy delivery element, the first epidural needle, or the first connector during implantation of the first therapy delivery element in the patient. Each of the second lead indicators is configured to removably attach to at least one of a second therapy delivery element, a second epidural needle, or a second connector to uniquely identify at least one of the second therapy delivery element, the second epidural needle, or the second connector during implantation of the second therapy delivery element in the patient.

Lead identification system

An anchor for maintaining a portion of a therapy delivery element within a desired location of a patient has (i) a first opening, (ii) a second opening, (iii) a body member formed of elastic material disposed between the first and second opening, (iv) and a lumen extending though the body member from the first opening to the second opening, and (v) a retention element secured to or integrally formed with the body member for retaining the anchor within a tissue location of a patient. The therapy delivery element has an outer diameter and an outer surface about which the anchor is disposable. The body member has a first inner diameter defined by the lumen in a relaxed state and a second inner diameter defined by the lumen in a radially stretched state. The first inner diameter is smaller than the outer diameter of the therapy delivery element, which is smaller that the second inner diameter. The lumen is configured to be disposed about at least a portion of the therapy delivery element. Radially compressive forces, due to the elastic material of the body member, contribute to retaining the anchor relative to the therapy delivery element.

Anchor and anchor deployment apparatus

A fluid resistant electrical connector for an implantable medical device includes a first connector assembly and a second connector assembly. The first connector assembly includes a first housing, an elongated coupling member, and first electrical contacts distributed around the coupling member. The second connector assembly includes a second housing, second electrical contacts, and a retention member. The second housing has a coupling member receptacle and a retention member receptacle. The coupling member receptacle is shaped to accommodate a distal portion of the coupling member. The retention member is partially accommodated by the retention member receptacle and movable between an insertion configuration accommodating coupling of the first and second connector assemblies and a retention configuration retaining the coupling member to prevent inadvertent uncoupling of the electrical connector.

Fluid resistant locking electrical connector for ventricular assist devices

In various examples, a set screw apparatus includes a set screw including a set screw body. An abutment extends radially outwardly from the set screw body and longitudinally separated from a threaded set screw area of a first length by an unthreaded set screw area of a second length of the set screw body. A block includes a bore. A threaded block area includes a third length, wherein the abutment inhibits movement of the set screw past the threaded block area and removal of the set screw from the bore. The third length is shorter than the second length so that an entirety of the threaded block area can be disposed within the unthreaded set screw area, such that the set screw is freely rotatable within the bore, but retained within the bore, if turned in a first direction with respect to the block.

Set screw apparatus

An implantable biomedical conductor assembly is configured for at least partial insertion in a living body. The implantable conductor assembly includes an inner tubular structure and an outer tubular structure generally surrounding the inner tubular structures such that a gap of less than about 0.030 inches exists there between. A dynamic coil is located in the gap. The dynamic coil includes a plurality of insulated conductors that are coiled generally at or below a yield point. The insulated conductors are permitted to expand within the gap to engage an inner surface of the outer tubular structure in an expanded coiled configuration. At least one mechanical restraint at each of a distal end and a proximal end retains the dynamic coil in the tubular structures. Free ends of the insulated conductors extend beyond the proximal and distal ends to facilitate attachment to electrodes and connectors.

Dynamic coil for implantable stimulation leads

In some examples, an anchor for a therapy delivery element includes a body portion including a lumen extending through the body portion. The body portion includes a first configuration in which the lumen is linear, the body portion in the first configuration being configured to receive the therapy delivery element within the lumen. The body portion also includes a second configuration in which the lumen is non-linear, wherein the lumen of the body portion in the second configuration frictionally engages the therapy delivery element.

Anchor for implantable medical device

In some examples, an extension includes a connector adapted to electrically couple to a proximal end of the therapy delivery element. An elongated extension body is attached to the connector. The elongated extension body includes a stylet coil having a stylet coil lumen. The stylet coil extends within the elongated extension body to the connector. A conductor assembly includes a plurality of insulated electrical conductors braided to extend around the stylet coil and electrically coupled to the connector. The conductor assembly includes an inner lumen with a diameter greater than an outside diameter of the stylet coil, wherein axial elongated of the elongated extension body reduces the inner diameter of the conductor assembly. A low durometer insulator extends around the conductor assembly. A stylet is sized to slide freely within the stylet coil lumen during implantation of the extension in the living body.

Implantable lead with braided conductors

A combined dissection tool and blank for implanting a paddle lead having an electrode portion and a lead body. The combined dissection tool and blank includes a blank with a maximum cross-sectional area substantially equal to a maximum cross sectional area of the electrode portion of the paddle lead. An elongated body portion is attached to the blank. A guide wire extends through the body portion substantially to a distal end of the blank. The guide wire provides sufficient column strength to separate fatty tissue to create a space for receiving the paddle lead.

Lead spacer tool

A low-insertion force electrical connector for implantable medical devices includes a housing with a pair of opposing sidewalls each with center openings oriented generally concentrically around a center axis. An inner coil is located in a recess with a coil axis generally co-linear with the center axis of the center openings. The inner coil includes an outer diameter less than a recess diameter, and an inner diameter greater than a center opening diameter. An outer coil is threaded onto the inner coil. The outer coil has an outer diameter less than the recess diameter, and an inner diameter less than the center opening diameter. The outer coil is radially expanded within the recess in response to engagement with contact rings on the implantable medical device, such that the outer diameter of the outer coil is at least equal to the recess diameter.

Low insertion force electrical connector for implantable medical devices

An anchor deployment apparatus for deploying an anchor about a therapy delivery element, such as a lead or a catheter, includes an anchor receiving element having an elongate member defining a lumen. The lumen is configured to slidably receive at least a portion of the therapy delivery element. The anchor is disposable about the elongate member. The deployment apparatus further includes an anchor engagement apparatus having an anchor engagement feature and a channel in which the elongate member of the anchor receiving element is moveable. The engagement feature is configured to engage the anchor when the anchor is disposed about the elongate member, and to cause the anchor to move distally along the elongate member when the feature is engaged with the anchor and the elongate member is moved proximally relative to the engagement element.
