A cranial flap fixation system and method are provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a rod having first and second ends, and an intermediate portion. The rod has a threaded portion between the first end and the intermediate portion. The system also includes an inferior disk coupled with the rod, proximate the first end of the rod, and a superior disk with an orifice through a central region of the superior disk. The orifice is sized to allow the superior disk to engage the threaded portion and movably couple the superior disk to the rod. The system further includes an installation tool having a central cavity. The installation tool is configured to engage the superior disk and the threaded portion, such that rotation of the installation tool in a first direction directs the superior disk toward the inferior disk.

Cranial flap fixation system and method

A medical implant includes a body having a conical portion and adapted for implantation into a person's body. A plurality of threads formed around an exterior surface of the conical portion of the body are adapted to help secure the implant in place within the person's body.

Conical, threaded subtalar implant

A system for fracture reduction includes a reduction plate for reducing a fracture between a first bone segment and a second bone segment. The reduction plate includes, on a first side of the reduction plate, a travel slot and a screw hole. The travel slot is configured to slidably engage a first positioning element that extends into the first bone segment through the travel slot and the first screw hole is configured to affix the first side of the reduction plate to the first bone segment. The reduction plate includes, on a second side of the reduction plate, an adjustment hole and a second screw hole. The adjustment hole is configured to engage a second positioning element that extends into the second bone segment through the adjustment hole and the second screw hole is configured to affix the second side of the reduction plate to the second bone segment.

System and method for fracture reduction

The present disclosure provides for a midface distraction system which includes a cannulated distraction rod having a socket disposed adjacent a first end, and a threaded portion disposed between the socket and a second end of the rod. The midface distraction system may further include a cannulated malar pin having a flange at a first end and a second end configured to form a moveable coupling between the cannulated malar pin and the socket.

Method and system for facial osteodistraction using a cannulated device

A bone anchor includes a screw portion configured to penetrate a bone. The screw portion includes a retention thread extending at least part of a length of the screw portion and a tip at a first end of the screw portion. The bone anchor includes a protrusion adjacent a second end of the screw portion. The second end is opposite the first end of the screw portion. The protrusion comprises a plurality of external sides forming a shape and a rounded interior surface enclosing a protrusion recess. The rounded interior surface includes a recess thread configured to retain a component at least partially in the protrusion recess. The protrusion has a maximum width that is less than a maximum diameter of the screw portion such that a shoulder is formed where the protrusion meets the second end of the screw portion.

A system for midface distraction including a left side distraction mechanism and a right side distraction mechanism, each including: an implantable anchor configured to be coupled to a bone of the malar region, an implantable anchor configured to be coupled to a bone of the cranium, and a distraction rod coupling the anchors. The system also includes a maxillary bridge configured to couple the left side distraction mechanism with the right side distraction mechanism and wherein couplings between the maxillary bridge and the right and left distraction mechanisms are configured to be internal to a patient.

In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a driver may include an electric motor coupled to a bit interface. The bit interface may include a generally cylindrical body having first and second hollow portions. The first hollow portion may be on one end of the generally cylindrical body and may define a generally cylindrical hole. The second hollow portion may abut the first hollow portion and define an oblong channel. The oblong channel may be further defined by first and second parallel flat walls. The cylindrical body may also include a first transverse groove.

A cranial flap fixation system and method are provided. The system includes an inferior disk coupled with a first end of a partially threaded connecting rod, and a superior disk having a central orifice operable to be threadably coupled with the connecting rod. The inferior and superior disks are configured such that upon installation, the inferior and superior disks cooperate with the connecting rod to apply pressure to a cranial flap and an adjacent cranial bone.

A collet for holding a rotatable tool such as a bur or drill bit having a stepped shaft including a drive shaft having a stepped internal diameter mating with the external diameter of the bur or drill shaft, a plurality of hardened balls mounted in openings in the sleeve, a locking sleeve having a tapered surface movable with the force of a spring against the balls to force the balls against the shaft to lock the shaft in the sleeve. A rotatable locking collar is movable to release the spring force to release the shaft for removal and replacement of the tool.

Surgical bur shank and locking collet mechanism

A self-drilling, self-tapping screw for use in repairing broken bones. The screw is made of a high strength material selected from the group consisting of titanium alloys, chrome cobalt, and high strength resinous polymer. The screw has threw segments: a tip region, a body region and a head region. The tip and body regions have a retention thread formed over substantially their entire lengths. The tip has an included angle .alpha. in the range between 45.degree. and 50.degree.. The head region is specifically designed to maximize the torque it can withstand and minimize the amount of material removed in formation of the recess. The head has a generally frusto-conical shape with an included angle of between 90.degree. and 120.degree. to prevent pull through while minimizing the head's profile. The retention threads on the tip region and the body region have similar shapes and pitches with the pitch on the tip region being slightly smaller than the pitch on the body region. Each of the retention threads has a lead angle between 48.degree. and 52.degree., and a trailing angle between 98.degree. and 102.degree., as measured from the centerline of the screw.
