An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with sensing circuitry that transmits radio-frequency sensing signals and receives reflected radio-frequency sensing signals. A mixer may generate a series of beat signals based on the sensing signals and the reflected sensing signals. The sensing circuitry may generate a beat phase based on an average of the series of beat signals, a set of phase values based on the series of beat signals, and a phase velocity based on the set of phase values. The sensing circuitry may resolve a phase ambiguity in the beat phase based on the phase velocity to identify a range between the electronic device and an external object. This way may allow the sensing circuitry to generate accurate ranges even in a low signal-to-noise ratio regime, such as when the external object is moving relative to the electronic device.

Electronic devices with low signal-to-noise ratio range measurement capabilities

Accuracy for detecting and tracking one or more objects of interest can be improved using radar-based tracking systems. In some examples, multiple radars implemented in a device can be used to transmit signals to, and receive signals from, the one or more objects of interest. To disambiguate an object of interest from undesired objects such as the hand of a user, the object of interest can include a transponder that applies a delay element to a signal received from a radar, and thereafter transmits a delayed return signal back to the radar. The delay produced by the delay element can separate the return signal from undesired reflections and enable disambiguation of those signals. Clear identification of the desired return signal can lead to more accurate object distance determinations, more accurate triangulation, and improved position detection and tracking accuracy.

Ultra-accurate object tracking using radar in multi-object environment

The methods and device disclosed herein provide an array such as a Radio Frequency (FR) antenna array for measuring the array movement or displacement of the array relative to a reference location. In some cases the array may be attached to or in communication with the device. The array comprises at least two transducers (e.g. RF antennas), wherein at least one of the at least two transducers is configured to transmit a signal towards the object, and at least one transceiver attached to said at least two transducers, the at least one transceiver is configured to repetitively transmit at least one signal toward an object and receive a plurality of signals affected or reflected while the array is moved in proximity to the object/medium or scene; and at least one processor unit, configured to: process the affected signals to yield a plurality of signal measurements and compare said signal measurements obtained at different locations over time of said second object and calculate a movement of the object relative to a reference location.

System, device and methods for localization and orientation of a radio frequency antenna array

The array includes at least two transducers and at least one transceiver attached to the at least two transducers, the at least one transceiver being configured to transmit at least one signal toward the medium and receive a plurality of signals affected by the medium; a data acquisition unit and at least one processor unit, configured to: process the affected plurality of signals to yield a plurality of transfer functions wherein each of the plurality of transfer functions including the medium response between two transducers of the at least two transducers as function of frequency or time; process the plurality of transfer functions to yield a plurality of statistical measures, and process the statistical measures to calculate the medium parameters.

System, device and methods for measuring substances' dielectric properties using microwave sensors

A vehicle, radar system of the vehicle and method of operating the vehicle. A transmit antenna transmits a radio wave and a plurality of receive antennae receive echo radio waves from an object receptive to the transmitted radio wave, wherein the echo radio waves includes short-range interference. A processor generates a plurality of radar data arrays for the return signals, wherein each radar data array represents the return signal received at a corresponding receiver antennae, estimates an amount of short-range interference present in the return signal of each radar data array, subtracts the estimate of short-range interference from each of the radar data array to obtain a plurality of clutter-free radar data arrays, and detects the object using at least the plurality of clutter-free radar data arrays. A navigation system navigates the vehicle based on the detection of the object.

Adaptive mitigation of stationary interference in a vehicular radar system

A precursor rejection filter is disclosed. A digital filter is coupled to receive packets from a data source. The filter may operate in one of a first mode or a second mode. In the first mode, the filter may receive communications packets. When operating in the second mode, the filter may receive sensing packets. Furthermore, when operating in the second mode, the filter may cause a precursor of the equivalent impulse response of the transmitter to be attenuated without attenuating the main lobe of the equivalent impulse response of the transmitter.

A method of mitigating vibration in a radar system on a moving platform includes obtaining received signals resulting from reflections of transmitted signals by one or more objects in a field of view of the radar system. The received signals are a three-dimensional data cube. The method also includes processing the received signals to obtain a first three-dimensional map and second three-dimensional map, estimating the vibration based on performing a first detection using the second three-dimensional map, and cancelling the vibration from the first three-dimensional map to obtain a corrected first three-dimensional map. A corrected second three-dimensional map is obtained by further processing the corrected first three-dimensional map; and a second detection is performed using the corrected second three-dimensional map.
