A method performed by a relay UE for determining whether the relay UE may provide a relay service to a remote UE. The method includes the relay UE receiving from the remote UE a first message comprising a first authorization token and a first digital signature for verifying the authenticity of the first authorization token, wherein the first digital signature was generated by a first network function using the first authorization token and a first key, and the first authorization token indicates whether or not the remote UE is authorized to utilize a relay service provided by the relay UE. The method further includes the relay UE verifying the authenticity of the first authorization token.

Security and privacy mechanisms are provided to protect the L2 identifiers used in groupcast communications over the sidelink (e.g., PC5 interface) without requiring a UE to periodically refresh the L2 identifiers, which may cause extra signaling overhead, increased latency and greater risk of synchronization issues. To prevent tracking of a UE, a group identifier (ID) is used as a source layer 2 (L2) ID in groupcast messages. Additionally, a message authentication code (MAC) is introduced into the group discovery procedure to authenticate the UE sending a group discovery request.

Privacy protection for sidelink communications

A method performed by a first user equipment (UE) configured for device-to-device (D2D) wireless communication. The method includes starting a keep-alive timer associated with a unicast sidelink (SL) connection with a second UE configured for D2D wireless communication. In response to expiration of the keep-alive timer, without receiving a transmission from the second UE while the keep-alive timer was running, a keep-alive message is transmitted to the second UE. In response to not receiving an acknowledgement of the keep-alive message, from the second UE within a predetermined duration, release of the unicast SL connection with the second UE is initiated without transmitting a further keep-alive message to the second UE.

Keep-alive procedure for sidelink

Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to Time Sensitive Communication (TSC) to Fifth Generation (5G) Quality of Service (QoS) mapping and associated QoS binding. In one embodiment, a method for QoS mapping in a 5G System (5GS) for a virtual Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) bridge comprises, at a first network function, obtaining information from a TSN Application Function (AF) comprising baseline TSC QoS parameters and one or more additional parameters comprising either or both of: (a) one or more additional TSC QoS attributes and (b) one or more additional traffic attributes. The method further comprises, at the first network function, generating one or more Policy and Charging Control (PCC) rules based on the obtained information and providing the one or more PCC rules to a second network function. The method further comprises, at the second network function, performing QoS binding based on the one or more PCC rules.

Systems and method are disclosed herein that relate to support for virtual Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) bridge management, Quality of Service (QoS) mapping, and TSN related scheduling in a cellular communications system. In some embodiments, a method performed by one or more network nodes of a cellular communications system operating as a virtual TSN bridge of a TSN network comprises providing, to a controller associated with the TSN network, parameters that relate to capabilities of the virtual TSN bridge. The parameters that relate to the capabilities of the virtual TSN bridge comprise a first parameter that defines a clock accuracy of an entity in the cellular communications system that operates gating control for the virtual TSN bridge and a second parameter that informs the controller associated with the TSN network that the virtual TSN bridge or a particular egress port of the virtual TSN bridge is restricted to exclusive gating.

5G system support for virtual TSN bridge management, QoS mapping and TSN Qbv scheduling

A method, system and apparatus are disclosed. In some embodiments, a network node configured to communicate with a wireless device (WD) is provided. The network node is configured to indicate, in a System Information Block (SIB) whether a network supports an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) emergency communication service, the indication associated to a network identifier, the network identifier identifying the network. Methods and systems providing support for manual roaming in a telecommunications network are provided. According to one aspect, a method for manual roaming implemented in a Mobility Management Entity (MME) comprises: receiving, from a User Equipment (UE) a request to access the telecommunications network, the request comprising an indication that Local Operator Services, LOS, are desired; determining that authentication information for authenticating the UE is unavailable; and, in response to determining that the authentication information is unavailable, routing the UE to a portal for acquiring manual roaming access to the telecommunications network. If the user of the UE acquires (e.g., purchases) manual roaming access, the MME will receive an indication of such from the portal and grant the UE access. The UE may be restricted to accessing only a subset of LOS services. The UE may be directed to a special Access Point Name (APN) configured for manual roamers.
