A trephine device for preparing apertures through a flexible material, such as skin of a patient, including a base plate having an upper surface and an opposed lower surface, where the upper surface has at least one upwardly protruding skin deforming contoured surface. The base plate is adapted to be removably inserted into a pocket surgically prepared in tissue of the patient. The device can include a handle member mounted on and projecting upwardly from the upper surface of the base plate. A clamping member is connected to the trephine device in overlying relationship to the upper surface of the base plate. The clamping member facilitates deformable, clamping, sandwiched engagement of the flexible material between the upper surface of the base plate and the clamping member. When the base plate is inserted into the pocket surgically prepared in the tissue of the patient, the skin of the patient is engageable between the base plate and the clamping member. The trephine device includes a cutter positionable relative to the handle member. The cutter is movable relative to the clamping member into cutting engagement with the flexible material deformably engaged by the clamping member to form an aperture having a cylindrical wall or a reverse tapered wall in the flexible material.

A swim tank slightly longer than a human and slightly wider than the maximum spread between fingertips is divided into upper and lower channels by polycarbonate or members extending across the width of the tank and having a rectangular outlet at the top front through which water is expelled. A vaned wheel at the rear is driven by an induction motor from a power source of controlled frequency.

A capacitance type pressure transducer having a removable capacitor plate formed of a ceramic substrate containing a conductive film spaced in a controlled relation opposite a tensioned metal membrane. For precluding temperature induced differential forces from adversely affecting transducer accuracy, the controlled relation between the capacitor plate and metal membrane is maintained by a plurality of flexure pins of selective deflection properties securing the assembled spacing therebetween.

Variable capacitance pressure transducer

Apparatus for ensuring laminar flow through the main (non-measuring) branch of a split flow path flowmeter comprising a mass flow controller made of juxtaposed annular plates having interconnecting radial slots. The resulting flow passageways have proper length-to-hydraulic radius ratios to ensure that flow therethrough is laminar. A relatively inexpensive manufacturing technique is utilized to produce the annular plates whereby the radial slots are etched completely through each plate rather than being chemically etched or machined into only part of the thickness of each plate or bored through part of the interior of each plate.

The invention provides a machine for capping containers with closures made of heat shrinkable film and includes a film feeding mechanism, a film cutting mechanism, and a film shrinking head which is adapted to accommodate containers of different sizes. The film shrinking head comprises two elongate and opposed flexible heated members which are bowed away from one another so as to provide a space for introduction of a container and a sheet of heat shrinkable film that overlies the container, and means for drawing the two heated members and thereby the margins of the sheet of film tight against the rim of the container so as to cause the film to shrink and form a tight closure on the container.

Apparatus for capping containers

A low cost pressure transducer can be manufactured and assembled with automatic or semiautomatic production line techniques. The transducer includes a pressure fitting, a diaphragm, a strain gage comprising a bridge circuit and tabs with leads for the bridge circuit, and a termination board, all contained within a case. One end of the case is swaged over a flange on the fitting in order to sealingly clamp the diaphragm between a shoulder in the case and the fitting flange. The bridge portion of the strain gage is adhesively secured to the diaphragm. A pressure distribution member is placed over the bridge so pressure may be applied to the assembly during heat-curing of the adhesive which secures the gage to the diaphragm. The termination board has four terminals and a corresponding number of conductive strips. It is positioned in the case so that each of the conductive strips is pressed into electrical contact with a corresponding lead on the tabs of the gage. The other end of the case is swaged over the termination board to lock the latter in place.
