The present disclosure relates to a structure including an adaptive noise canceller circuit which is configured to suppress noise in a feedback sigma-delta modulator circuit and provide real-time tracking of a noise cancellation signal.

A phase-locked loop digital bandwidth calibrator includes a digital loop filter having a gain multiplier memory and a perturbation unit configured to generate a calibration offset signal to initiate a calibration. Additionally, the phase-locked loop digital bandwidth calibrator also includes a digital bandwidth calibration unit configured to provide a corrected nominal gain for storage in the gain multiplier memory, wherein a digital gain correction for the corrected nominal gain is determined by a digital integration stage and a correction database. A phase-locked loop digital bandwidth calibration method is also provided.

Automatic loop-bandwidth calibration for a digital phased-locked loop

A circuit for use with an amplification circuit having a predistortion datapath portion, a power amplifier portion and a gain portion. The predistortion datapath portion can output a predistorted signal based on the input signal. The power amplifier portion can output an amplified signal based on the predistorted signal. The gain portion can output a gain output signal based on the amplified signal. The circuit comprises a digital predistortion adaptation portion and a combiner. The digital predistortion adaptation portion can output a predistortion adaptation portion output signal. The combiner can output an error signal. The predistortion adaptation portion output signal is based on the input signal, the gain output signal and the error signal. The error signal is based on the difference between the predistorted signal and the predistortion adaptation portion output signal.

System and method for training pre-inverse of nonlinear system

A Cartesian transmitter and a method of linearizing a Cartesian transmitter. In one embodiment, the transmitter includes: (1) a transmit chain configured to receive an input signal having in-phase and quadrature components and having a predistorter configured to employ at least one compensation lookup table to carry out in-phase and quadrature compensation predistortion with respect to the input signal, a combiner configured to combine outputs of the predistorter and a nonlinear element configured to process an output of the combiner, (2) a receiver coupled to the transmit chain and (3) predistortion compensation circuitry associated with the receiver and configured to update the at least one compensation lookup table based on the input signal and a signal from the receiver.

Apparatus and method for adaptive cartesian transmitter linearization and wireless transmitter employing the same

A polar transmitter and a method of linearizing a polar transmitter. In one embodiment, the transmitter includes: (1) a transmit chain having a predistorter configured to employ first amplitude and phase compensation lookup tables to carry out predistortion in the transmit chain, (2) a receiver coupled to the transmit chain and (3) predistortion compensation circuitry associated with the receiver and configured to update second amplitude and phase compensation lookup tables associated therewith based on at least one signal from the transmit chain, the values in the updated second amplitude and phase compensation lookup tables thereby available for subsequent predistortion.

Apparatus and method for adaptive polar transmitter linearization and wireless transmitter employing the same

Symbols are transmitted in a Cartesian transmitter by pre-distorting an input signal X having in-phase and quadrature components using a first compensation lookup table operable to hold complex valued entries to carry out in-phase and quadrature compensation pre-distortion with respect to the input signal to form a pre-distorted signal Z. The pre-distorted signal Z is processed to form an output signal Y using a nonlinear element. A complex gain normalization parameter adaptively updated to reflect varying gain of a linear region of the nonlinear element. A normalized feed back signal {tilde over (Y)} is formed using the adaptively updated complex gain normalization parameter. The first compensation lookup table is updated based on the pre-distorted input signal Z and the adaptively normalized feedback signal {tilde over (Y)}.

Adaptive complex gain predistorter for a transmitter

A predistorters for use with a nonlinear element and methods of predistorting for a nonlinear element for use in a 3G, e.g., WCDMA transmitter. In one embodiment, the predistorter includes: (1) a lookup table having non-uniformly spaced entries therein, (2) a compander configured to compand an input signal based on a nonlinearity of the nonlinear element to address the entries and (3) an interpolation offset calculation circuit associated with the lookup table and configured to produce an output based on a value of the input signal and a linear interpolation involving at least two entries from the lookup table.
