Provided is a viewing angle varying film. The viewing angle varying film includes a first film, a second film that overlaps the first film and is spaced apart from the first film, a first electrode on the first film, a second electrode on the second film, and a viewing angle varying layer between the first electrode and the second electrode. The viewing angle varying layer includes a plurality of first structures and a plurality of second structures including colored particles and are spaced apart from each other. At least one or more of a height, a width, and a shape of the plurality of first structures and the plurality of second structures is different. Accordingly, various viewing field characteristics may be satisfied.

Viewing angle varying film and display device comprising the same

A display device having a switchable viewing angle includes a first polarizer which transmits light of a P-wave or S-wave, a viewing angle control panel which is disposed above the first polarizer, includes a lower electrode and an upper electrode, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the lower electrode and the upper electrode to selectively change the light of P-wave or S-wave to an S-wave or P-wave, and a second polarizer which is disposed above the viewing angle control panel and has a transmission axis perpendicular to a transmission axis of the first polarizer. Therefore, the mode may be switchable to the privacy mode and the share mode and in the share mode, the luminance may be improved without increasing the power consumption.

Display device having switchable viewing angle

An optical film and a display device including the same are disclosed, in which an image of the display device is prevented from being irradiated to an unwanted place and luminance is prevented from being deteriorated. The optical film includes a first base film; a second base film spaced apart from the first base film to face the first base film; an optical pattern arranged between the first base film and the second base film, having an inclined surface inclined at a certain angle; and a reflective member arranged at one side of the optical pattern.

In an embodiment, a backlight unit includes a light-emitting device and lower reflector on a substrate. The lower reflector has a hole that accommodates and exposes the light-emitting device. The lower reflector may have a height greater than a height of the light-emitting device. The backlight unit may include a color resin in the holes and on the light-emitting device. The backlight unit may include a light path modulator above the light emitting device and on the color resin. The light path modulator may have a different refractive index than a refractive index of the color resin to reflect the emitted light at a boundary of the light path modulator and the color resin towards the lower reflector.

Backlight unit and display device including the same technical field

In an embodiment, a display device comprises a display panel and a backlight unit. The backlight unit comprises a printed circuit, a light-emitting device on the printed circuit, and a transparent film including a holographic film. The holographic film includes at least an optical pattern overlapping the light-emitting device and modifying angle of a portion of light emitted by the light-emitting device. The backlight unit further comprises a light output pattern, where the portion of light with the modified angle passes through the light output pattern toward the display panel. The light output pattern may have a refractive index greater than a refractive index of the transparent film such that a refraction angle of the portion of light exiting the light output pattern is less than the incidence angle of the portion of light entering the light output pattern.

Backlight unit and display device

In an embodiment, a display device comprises a display panel and a backlight unit. The backlight unit comprises a substrate, phosphor film, light-emitting devices, and light-modifying portion. A part of light emitted by the light-emitting devices traveling along a first path that passes through the phosphor film and another part of the emitted light traveling along a second path that bypasses the phosphor film. The light-modifying portion is in the second path and modifies a color of the other part of the emitted light so that the modified color is closer to a color of the part of the light through the phosphor film than a color of the emitted light at the light-emitting devices.

Backlight unit with light-modifying portion and display including the same

An organic light emitting display device is disclosed, which prevents non-uniform luminance and color deviation caused by a change of a viewing angle from occurring. The organic light emitting display device includes a first substrate having a display area and a non-display area; an organic light emitting diode arranged in the display area of the first substrate; and an anisotropic diffusion film arranged on the organic light emitting diode, having a diffusion property varied depending on an incident angle.
