A display apparatus includes a display panel, a driving controller and a data driver. The driving controller divides input image data into a plurality of partial image data corresponding to a plurality of display areas of the display panel, calculates local loads corresponding to the plurality of partial image data, determines a scale factor based on the local loads, and applies the scale factor to the input image data to generate a data signal. The data driver converts the data signal to a data voltage and outputs the data voltage to the display panel. The scale factor for a center display area corresponding to a center of the display panel among the plurality of display areas is determined differently from the scale factor for an edge display area corresponding to an edge of the display panel among the plurality of display areas.

A display apparatus includes: a display panel; a driving controller, which receives input image data including a plurality of normal image frames and a plurality of black image frames, receives a flag indicating a type of each of frames included in the input image data, generates intermediate image data by adjusting a grayscale of the input image data based on the input image data and the flag, and generates a data signal based on the intermediate image data where the type includes a normal image frame and a black image frame; and a data driver, which generates a data voltage based on the data signal and outputs the data voltage to the display panel.

A display device includes a display panel, a driving controller, and a voltage generator. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels receives a driving voltage through a first voltage line. The voltage generator provides the driving voltage to the first voltage line and determines the voltage level of the driving voltage based on the voltage control signal. A method of compensating for luminance of a display device includes determining position compensation values of each of panel blocks for measurement grayscale values based on a difference between luminance of a reference panel block and luminance of the each of the panel blocks for the measurement grayscale values, generating a first gamma curve for a first driving frequency and the position compensation values of the each of the panel blocks for the measurement grayscale values, generating a second gamma curve for a second driving frequency and the luminance of the panel blocks for the measurement grayscale values at the first driving frequency, and compensating for input image data based on the first gamma curve and the second gamma curve.
