Disclosed are a nanogap structure and a method of manufacturing the nanogap structure through undercut. The method includes forming a nanosized gap between primary metal and secondary metal by undercutting the primary metal such that the width of the primary metal at a lower end of a bead is less than the width of the bead. The method includes manufacturing a ring structure or a ring disk structure including a nanosized gap varying depending on a degree of undercut.

A micro probe array device and method of manufacturing are disclosed. In the micro probe array device, a plurality of working electrodes are arranged in an array form, so that an individual electric signal can be applied to an object for each working electrode. In the micro probe array device, the height of the working electrode may be different, the working electrode and the counter electrode may constitute a double electrode, or the substrate may be made of a flexible material.

Disclosed is a surface plasmon resonance sensor. The surface plasmon resonance sensor includes an optical fiber; a microfiber provided at an end of the optical fiber; and a nanostructure provided in a specific region of the microprobe. The specific region of the microprobe is present at a position separate by a predetermined distance from the end of the optical fiber, and, in the nanostructure, a conductive layer is provided at an interval of a nano size at each of both sides of an insulating layer.

Provided is a microbial fuel cell (MFC). The MFC includes a microfluidic element having an inlet portion and an outlet portion for intake and discharge of a culture fluid containing cells and a microchannel portion for capturing the cells and interconnecting the inlet portion and the outlet portion, a microprobe-array element having microprobes as anodes for extracting electrons produced during a metabolic process of the cells, and delivering the extracted electrons to an external circuit outside the cells, and a cathode for delivering the electrons used in the external circuit to an electron acceptor outside the cells. The microprobes penetrate the microfluidic element and are inserted into a plurality of single cells captured by the microchannel portion when the microfluidic element and the microprobe-array element are coupled together. The microprobes are separated from the single cells when the microfluidic element and the microprobe-array element are separated from each other.
