A lithium ion secondary battery system includes a chamber to accommodate a lithium ion secondary battery, a charging/discharging device for electrically charging and discharging the lithium ion secondary battery, a pressure plate disposed in the chamber and configured to press the lithium ion secondary battery when the lithium ion secondary battery is electrically charged, a pointed portion disposed in the chamber and configured to bore a hole in a pouch of the lithium ion secondary battery to enable gas generated during the electrical charging of the lithium ion secondary battery to be removed from the pouch, and a sealer configured to seal the pouch after the gas is removed.

System for and method of manufacturing lithium ion secondary battery

Disclosed herein are an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery including the same. The disclosed lithium secondary battery includes: a cathode; an anode; a separator interposed between the cathode and the anode; and an electrolyte, wherein the electrolyte includes: a lithium salt; and a solvent including a perfluorinated ether-based solvent, fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC), and ethylmethyl carbonate (EMC).

A pouch type battery cell is provided. The battery cell includes a negative electrode and a positive electrode that overlap each other while spaced apart from each other. The negative electrode includes a pair of negative terminals that protrude from a first side of opposite ends of the negative electrode. Additionally, the positive electrode includes a pair of positive terminals that protrude from a second side of opposite ends of the positive electrode.

A pouch type secondary battery may include an electrode assembly, electrode tabs connected to the electrode assembly, a pouch case to accommodate the electrode assembly and the electrode tabs in a sealed state, and lead tabs extending to the outside by passing through the pouch case in a state of being connected to the electrode tabs, wherein the lead tabs include a bending connection portion provided in the pouch case, and a breaking portion provided on a side of the bending connection portion to have a relatively small cross-sectional area and being broken when an overcurrent is applied or the pouch case expands.

A pouch battery having improved overcharging safety includes a CID interrupting an electrical connection between an electrode assembly and a lead tab when the pouch is expanded. When the pouch is expanded, the CID discharges gas generated inside the pouch to the outside, and at the time of overcharging a secondary battery, the CID interrupts a flow of current introduced into the secondary battery and discharges the gas generated due to the overcharging to the outside of the pouch, thereby reducing an ignition risk and improving the overcharging safety.

An overcharge safety device includes a switch electrically connecting a lead tap of a battery cell with a bus bar, and includes a guide member connected with the switch and movable as a pouch of the battery cell swells. As the pouch of the battery cell swells, the guide member moves toward the bus bar to disconnect the switch from the lead tap.

A swelling current interrupt device (CID) includes: a battery unit connection terminal configured to be fixed to a pouch; and a lead tab connection terminal configured to be fixed to the pouch and electrically connected to the battery unit connection terminal, wherein any one of the battery unit connection terminal and the lead tab connection terminal is broken by an expansion force of the pouch which is generated when the pouch expands to interrupt the electrical connection between the battery unit connection terminal and the lead tab connection terminal.

The present disclosure relates to a battery cell. The battery cell includes: an electrode assembly; a pouch which wraps around the electrode assembly; an electrode tab extended from the electrode assembly; a lead tab attached to the electrode tab; and a current interrupt device which is configured to block reconnection of the lead tab and the electrode tab when the pouch is shrunk to return to an original position after being expanded, while blocking current flow by separating the lead tab and the electrode tab through the expansion of the pouch, when abnormal situation of battery cell occurs.

A system for controlling a battery to extend a driving mileage is provided. The system supplies a high voltage required to drive a motor by connecting a plurality of batteries in series by turning off a battery switching unit during engaged of an accelerator and balances voltage between the plurality of batteries. A voltage deviation is managed by connecting the plurality of batteries in parallel by turning on the battery switching unit when the accelerator is disengaged. The system includes a plurality of battery modules and a battery switching unit configured to connect the plurality of battery modules in parallel when an accelerator is disengaged and connect the plurality of battery modules in series when the accelerator is engaged. A motor driving unit is configured to receive an output by the battery switching unit when the accelerator is engaged.

A high voltage battery for vehicles includes an anode tab that is divided into a first part placed near a battery cell and a second part placed near a terminal. A first part extension extends from the first part and is fixed to a lower pouch. A second part extension extends from the second part, comes into contact with the first part extension, and is fixed at an upper end thereof to an upper pouch. An cathode extension extends from a cathode tab and is spaced apart from the upper end of the second part extension. A cushion is interposed between the second part extension and the cathode extension, with a reference level of pressure formed in the cushion.

High voltage battery for vehicles

A battery system improving operation reliability of a swelling current interrupt device (CID) is provided. The battery system includes a cooling plate that forms an appearance of a battery in which the swelling CID interrupting a current flow is mounted and includes a swelling aperture formed therein. The swelling aperture induces an expansion of a pouch in which the swelling CID is embedded. Therefore, since the swelling aperture is formed in the cooling plate, improved operation reliability of the swelling CID than a battery system according to related art in which operation reliability was varied based on a thickness of a pouch cell is obtained.

A battery overcharge protection device includes a pouch having a battery cell packaged therein. An electrode tab extends from an end of the battery cell for allowing flow of electricity therethrough and is composed of first and second electrode tab parts. A breaker is provided in the pouch and connected to the first and second electrode tab parts to separate the first and second electrode tab parts from each other upon expansion of the battery cell.

Battery overcharge protection device

The present invention features a high-capacity anode material for rapidly chargeable and dischargeable lithium secondary batteries, which is composed of LiTiOnanoparticles. The LiTiOnanoparticles of the present invention exhibit excellent crystallinity and high rate capability compared to those synthesized using a conventional polyol process or solid reaction process by converting LiTiO, which is a zero-strain insert material spotlighted as an anode active material for lithium secondary batteries, into LiTiO, having a high crystalline nanostructure using a solvothermal synthesis process without performing additional heat treatment. The present invention also features methods of, and a method of preparing the high-capacity anode materials described herein.
