A method for pre-lithiation of a negative electrode including the steps of: interposing a separator between a lithium ion-supplying metal sheet and a negative electrode to prepare a simple cell; dipping the simple cell in an electrolyte for pre-lithiation; and disposing the simple cell dipped in the electrolyte for pre-lithiation between two polymer pads, and carrying out electrochemical charging, while pressurizing the outside of the two polymer pads, to perform pre-lithiation of the negative electrode. Each of the polymer pads has a thickness of 60% to 90% of a thickness of a corresponding jig of the pair of jigs. A pre-lithiated negative electrode and a lithium secondary battery including the pre-lithiated negative electrode are also disclosed.

A method for pre-lithiation and pre-sodiation of a negative electrode, including the steps of: interposing a first separator between a lithium ion-supplying metal sheet and a negative electrode to prepare a first simple cell. Then, dipping the first simple cell in an electrolyte for pre-lithiation. Next, carrying out a primary electrochemical charging of the first simple cell dipped in the electrolyte for pre-lithiation to obtain a pre-lithiated negative electrode. Then, interposing a second separator between a sodium ion-supplying metal sheet and the pre-lithiated negative electrode to prepare to prepare a second simple cell. Next, dipping the second simple cell in an electrolyte for pre-sodiation; and carrying out secondary electrochemical charging of the second simple cell dipped in the electrolyte for pre-sodiation to obtain a pre-lithiated and pre-sodiated negative electrode. A pre-lithiated/pre-sodiated negative electrode obtained by the method and a lithium secondary battery including the same are also disclosed.

A pre-lithiation apparatus which prevents an electrode from being damaged by the byproducts produced by contact between a lithium source, such as a lithium metal sheet or lithium metal powder, and an electrolyte for pre-lithiation. The pre-lithiation apparatus includes a first reaction vessel comprising a first electrolyte and a first organic solvent and a second reaction vessel comprising a second electrolyte and a second organic solvent, wherein the first electrolyte of the first reaction vessel and the second electrolyte of the second reaction vessel are linked to each other by a salt bridge. A negative electrode to be pre-lithiated is dipped at least partially in the first electrolyte of the first reaction vessel, and a lithium source capable of supplying lithium ions is dipped at least partially in the second electrolyte of the second reaction vessel.

A method for pre-lithiation and pre-sodiation of a negative electrode, including the steps of: preparing a negative electrode including a negative electrode current collector, and a negative electrode active material layer on at least one surface of the negative electrode current collector. Then, applying and drying a first composition containing a lithium metal powder, a polymer binder and a dispersion medium onto the negative electrode active material layer to form a lithium metal layer. A method for pre-lithiation of an electrode, including a first step of providing a pre-lithiation reaction system which includes a first reaction system including lithium metal, a separator, an electrolyte for pre-lithiation and carbon felt, and a second reaction system including the electrolyte for pre-lithiation and an electrode to be pre-lithiated, wherein the lithium metal and the electrode to be pre-lithiated are not in direct contact with each other. The first reaction system and the second reaction system communicate with each other. The first step is followed by a second step of preparing an electrode including an electrode current collector, and an electrode active material layer formed on at least one surface of the electrode current collector; and a third step of allowing the electrode to pass through the second reaction system by a conveying roll to carry out pre-lithiation of the electrode.

Method and apparatus for pre-lithiation of electrode

A pre-lithiation reaction chamber apparatus including a pre-lithiation reaction vessel which can prevent harmful effects caused by water that may be generated during pre-lithiation is provided. The pre-lithiation reaction vessel includes an electrolyte including a lithium salt, a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium ion-supplying member. Each of the negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery and the lithium ion-supplying member is at least partially in contact with the electrolyte. The pre-lithiation reaction chamber apparatus further includes a water-capturing vessel. The water-capturing vessel includes water-capturing powder, a container configured to receive the water-capturing powder, and a position-changing member configured to change a position of the water-capturing powder in the container.
