A method of processing signal for a thermal type flow sensor having a temperature dependence resistance employing platinum and the like and a holding member made of alumina for holding it so as to compensate for response delay when fluid flow is changed, in which, when the fluid flow is maintained in a stationary state, the so-called equilibrium state, by steps of setting in advance the relation between a flow related value which changes according to flow change and a first operational value showing the temperature characteristic of the holding member which changes according to flow so as to make the flow related value as a parameter, calculating the first operational value from the flow related value when flow is detected in accordance with the predetermined relation, comparing the calculated first operational value with the second operational value which is set in relation with the first operational value, correcting the second operational value so that it approximates the first operational value according to the compared result, calculating a compensating factor by a predetermined operational formula with the calculated first operational value and the corrected second operational value, and compensating the compensating factor by multiplying it by the detected flow.

An input processing circuit for an air flow sensor comprising a differential amplifier connected through two lines to an air flow sensor and having an operational amplifier an output signal from the air flow sensor and sends a result of this processing to an analogue value - digital value conversion integrated circuit. An output signal from the air flow sensor is supplied to the differential amplifier through a filter circuit so as to prevent an occurrence of error in measuring the amount of sucked air for an internal combustion engine due to various noises. A connection of an inverting input terminal end of the differential amplifier to a ground through a resistor prevents an error caused by a breakage of a reference voltage line connected between the air flow sensor and the input processing circuit. A differential input amplifier circuit also prevents an error caused by a variation in potential resulting from consumption current of an air flow sensor or the like from being generated.

A control apparatus of a rotational speed of an engine outputs a drive signal for adjusting the opening of a control valve which controls a specific volume of intake air of the engine to control the engine speed. The drive signal is based on the sum of a basic control amount and a correction amount. The correction amount is varied such that an actual speed of the engine and a target speed tend to become equal during the idling condition. When the engine goes to the idling condition from the loaded condition, the drive signal is added to a predetermined value to provide a much larger value of the drive signal than in the normal idling condition, and is then progressively decreased until the sum becomes equal to said first control amount. Thus, the engine can be operated without too large a drop in engine speed.

An engine control apparatus is provided with a control unit in which a fuel supply quantity Q.sub.f or a ignition timing .theta..sub.i is corrected to maximize an evaluation parameter A=P.sub.i /(Q.sub.a /N) obtained on the basis of a suction air quantity Q.sub.a, an engine speed N and a mean effective pressure P.sub.i in a engine, or to maximize a parameter B=P.sub.i /P.sub.b obtained on the basis of a suction pipe pressure P.sub.b and the mean effective pressure P.sub.i, or to maximize a maximum pressure P.sub.max or a mean effective pressure P.sub.i for every combustion cycle, so that control is performed on the basis of the result of the above correction. Further, the control unit performs feedback control in a predetermined load-operation range of the engine, and stops the feedback control and corrects the fuel supply quantity Q.sub.f out of said predetermined load-operation range of the engine.

An apparatus for measuring an air flow intake of an internal combustion engine which comprises an air flow sensor for measuring the level of the air flow intake and an interface circuit for receiving an output signal from the sensor. The air flow sensor includes a current output circuit which outputs a current corresponding to the level of the air flow intake as the output signal of the sensor, and the interface circuit includes a current to voltage converter which converts the current from the sensor into a voltage signal and outputs it to an A/D converter included in a fuel injection unit.

A control device for an automotive engine provided with a fuel injection valve determines the current value of a parameter (e.g. the mean effective combustion pressure) indicative of the output power of the engine, and compares it to the target value thereof determined, for example, from the temporal change of the throttle opening degree. At least one of the parameters: the driving pulse width of the fuel injection valve (corresponding to the amount of fuel supply), the ignition timing, and the amount of intake air, is selected as a manipulated variable and controlled so as to reduce the difference between the current and target values of the parameter.

A rotational speed controller for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle has an air bypass passage which bypasses the throttle valve of the engine. A solenoid valve controls the air intake rate through the bypass passage. The output current of a generator which is driven by the engine is monitored by a current sensor. Based on the current which is sensed, an air intake adjuster calculates the change in the air intake rate through the bypass passage necessary to compensate for the load exerted on the engine by the generator so as to maintain a constant engine speed. The solenoid valve is controlled to change the air intake rate through the bypass passage by the amount calculated by the air intake adjuster. The change in the air intake rate can be calculated on the basis of the level of the generator current and/or the rate of change of the generator current. When a period sensor detects that the generator current is fluctuating with a prescribed amplitude and period, the air intake adjuster calculates the change in the air intake rate on the basis of the average value of the generator current. At other times, it calculates the change in the air intake rate using the instantaneous value of the generator current.

Speed control apparatus for an internal combustion engine

An engine control apparatus is provided with a control unit in which a fuel supply quantity Q.sub.f or a ignition timing .theta..sub.i is corrected to maximize an evaluation parameter A=P.sub.i /(Q.sub.a /N) obtained on the basis of a suction air quantity Q.sub.a, an engine speed N and a mean effective pressure P.sub.i in a engine, or to maximize a parameter B=P.sub.i /P.sub.b obtained on the basis of a suction pipe pressure P.sub.b and the mean effective pressure P.sub.i, or to maximize a maximum pressure P.sub.max or a mean effective pressure P.sub.i for every combustion cycle, so that control is performed on the basis of the result of the above correction. The control unit also performs the feedback control of the fuel supply quantity Q.sub.f and corrects the ignition timing by the above-mentioned correction means. Further, the control unit performs feedback control in a predetermined load-operation range of the engine, and stops the feedback control and corrects the fuel supply quantity Q.sub.f out of said predetermined load-operation range of the engine.

A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine has cylinders each of which is provided with an exclusive fuel injection valve individually driven their openings. Each cylinder has a misfiring detecting means for detecting misfiring of that cylinder. The control apparatus includes a drive stopping means for stopping the driving of the fuel injection valve corresponding to a misfired cylinder so as to stop fuel supply to that misfired cylinder. The apparatus is further provided an air-to-fuel ratio sensor in the exhaust path of the engine so that when misfiring of the cylinder is detected, the fuel injection valves remain controlled through a feedback control where the openings of the normally fired cylinders are controlled in accordance with the air-to-fuel ratio signal outputted from the air-to-fuel ratio sensor in such a way that the apparent air-to-fuel ratio of the cylinders is given by an equation L=nLo/(n-p) where L is the apparent value of the air-to-fuel ratio of the cylinders when p cylinders are misfired, n is the number of cylinders, Lo is the air-to-fuel ratio of the cylinders when all of the cylinders are normally operating, and p is the number of misfired cylinders.

Control apparatus for internal combustion engine

A method for adjusting idling RPM of engine having a pair of bypass passages, one of which is provided with a control valve and the other is provided with an air intake adjusting screw. The control valve is controlled by an adjusting signal (St+Sc) which is derived from an adjusting signal generator provided in a feedback system for decreasing the deviation of idling RPM of engine from a predetermined target RPM value after detecting it and the air intake adjusting screw is so adjusted as to make the adjusting signal to conform to the predetermined value (St) by decreasing the RPM correcting signal (Sc) independently of the said control value. With this arrangement there are no need of particular ways or arrangements for adjusting the idling RPM of the engine.
