Doorbell systems can include a doorbell and a remote communication device. In some embodiments, the remote communication device can be communicatively coupled to a wireless network of a building, to the doorbell, and to a remote computing device. In several embodiments, the remote communication device facilitates communication with at least one of the doorbell, the remote computing device, and a remote sensor.

Doorbell communication systems and methods

A circuit is described for powering a video doorbell in signal communication with a chime that outputs audio. The circuit includes a switch coupled to a set of input power wires that supply power to the circuit from a source. The switch is operable to switch between: i) a first path of the circuit that supplies power to the video doorbell using the input power wires and ii) a second path of the circuit that supplies power to the chime using the input power wires. The circuit includes a controller that controls the switch to iteratively switch between the first path and the second path based on a timing metric. In response to detection of an object by the video doorbell, the iterative switching between the first path and the second path concurrently powers the video doorbell and the chime without relying on battery power at the video doorbell.

Batteryless video doorbell

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, are disclosed for implementing a smart dehum circuit that powers a chime which outputs audio in response to detection of a trigger event by a video doorbell. The circuit includes a detector circuit configured to generate a power signal in response to determining that an output voltage signal of a first circuit exceeds a threshold voltage. The circuit also includes a microcontroller coupled to the detector circuit. The microcontroller is configured to generate a chime power signal based on the power signal of the detector circuit. The chime power signal is generated to power the chime in response to detection of the trigger event by the video doorbell.

Smart electronic chime and mechanical chime dehum board

The disclosure includes a doorbell system having a doorbell, a doorbell housing, a visitor detection system, and a chime. The visitor detection system can be coupled to the doorbell housing and can include at least one of a camera and a motion detector. The doorbell can also comprise a first low-energy transceiver and a first high-energy transceiver that can be coupled to the doorbell housing. The first and second low-energy transceivers and the first and second high-energy transceivers can be configured to transmit data.

The disclosure includes a doorbell having a visitor detection system that can comprise at least one of a camera, a microphone, and a motion detector. The method for using the doorbell can comprise recording, via the camera, video data that represents a video. The method can also comprise recording, via the microphone, audio data that represents audio. The method of using the doorbell can comprise transmitting at least a portion of the video data and at least a portion of the audio data, to a remote computing device that is communicatively coupled to the doorbell. The method can also comprise transmitting the video data and the audio data to a remote server that is communicatively coupled to the doorbell.

A circuit is described for powering a chime that outputs audio in response to detection of an entity by a video doorbell. The circuit includes a power source for generating a first signal. A first switch is coupled to the power source. The first switch is configured to provide, in response to the first signal, a first direct-current (DC) voltage signal during a first operating mode where the video doorbell receives an input that triggers actuation of the chime in response to detection of the entity. A second switch is coupled to the power source and the first switch. The second switch is configured to provide, in response to the first signal, a second DC voltage signal during a second operating mode where the chime outputs the audio in response to the input that triggers actuation of the chime in response to detection of the entity.

Dehumming a chime with a video doorbell

A circuit is described for powering a chime that outputs audio in response to detection of an entity by a video doorbell. The circuit includes a rectifier circuit configured to generate a first signal based on a power source and a first switch coupled to the rectifier circuit. The first switch is configured to provide, based on the first signal, a first DC voltage signal during a first operating mode where the doorbell receives input that triggers actuation of the chime in response to detection of the entity. The circuit includes a second switch coupled to the rectifier circuit and the first switch. Based on the first signal, the second switch provides a second DC voltage signal during a second operating mode where the chime outputs the audio based on the input that triggers actuation of the chime in response to detection of the entity.

A circuit is described for powering a video doorbell in signal communication with a chime that outputs audio in response to a button on the video doorbell being pressed. The circuit includes a rectifier circuit configured to: i) receive a first voltage signal generated based on a power source and ii) generate a second voltage signal based on the first voltage signal. The circuit includes a boost circuit that generates a high-voltage direct-current (DC) signal for charging a capacitor without generating a peak current that triggers a particular noise output from the chime. The circuit also includes a converter circuit that generates a low-voltage power signal based on the high-voltage DC signal and a charge stored at the capacitor. The low-voltage power signal is for powering a plurality of components of the video doorbell.
