A user equipment (UE), baseband processor or other network device (e.g., base station, next generation NodeB, etc.) can operate to process or generate measurement gap configurations associated with multiple universal subscriber identity modules (MUSIM) with dual subscriber identify modules (SIMs). A UE can perform a system information request or an SI reading with or without the SI request based on a UE configured interruption or a preconfigured measurement gap configuration to read a system information block (SIB) 1 and at least one other SIB of SI associated with the target network.

An electronic device may include wireless circuitry having one or more radios and one or more antennas. For some device configurations such as during a device low-power mode, a radio (operating in a radio on-off mode) may alternate between on and off states based on a duty cycle to reduce power consumption and increase device battery life. Radio operation in the on-off mode and device operation in the low-power mode may accommodate other radio operations such as emergency broadcast message reception, radio operations under an allocated power budget, user equipment periodic registration and update operations.

A user equipment (UE) enters into a first state including one of a non-dormant state or a dormant state with a secondary serving cell (SCell) of a network, the SCell being configured to provide either one of a non-dormant bandwidth part (BWP) as a secondary component carrier (SCC) in the non-dormant state or a dormant BWP as an SCC in the dormant state. The UE switches from the first state to a second state including the other one of the non-dormant state or the dormant state, the switch being based on network configuration, a dormancy timer, or a radio condition.

Techniques and devices for service-specific tagging of data by an application processor (AP) of a user equipment device (UE). A first indication may be sent from the UE to a baseband processor (BB) of the UE of one or more quality of service preferences for an upcoming data session, and the BB may configure one or more layers of the BB according to the quality of service preferences. The BB may further communicate with a network to establish protocols for the quality of service preferences. The BB may determine one or more network conditions, and may transmit feedback from the BB to the AP related to the determined network conditions. Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to discontinuous reception (DRX) transmission. Embodiments of the present disclosure propose a solution for DRX configurations for point-to-point (PTP) and/or point-to-multipoint (PTM) transmissions. In this solution, a user equipment (UE) maintains separate DRX configurations for PTP transmissions and PTM transmissions. During active time for the PTP transmissions, the UE monitors physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a UE specific identifier. The UE monitors PDCCH with a PTM transmission specific identifier during active time for the PTM transmissions. In this way, it can match the MBS service quality mechanism. Moreover, it also saves power at the UE.

Discontinuous reception transmission

To accommodate a mix of high frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers, a protocol stack may include a radio link control (RLC) entity that allows configuration of status reporting control parameters on per carrier, or per subcarrier spacing. Alternatively, a protocol stack may include two RLC entities, one for handling high frequency carriers, and another for handling lower frequency carriers. (High frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers may be distinguished based on a frequency threshold.) Furthermore, a user equipment may transmit (to the network) an indication of its L2 buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling, to ensure the UE's L2 buffer does not overrun. Alternatively, the UE may indicate that it can support a percentage of a maximum buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling so that the UE's buffer occupancy does not exceed the percentage.

In response to the request to perform the higher priority communication, the UE transmits a request to the first network to suspend the first RRC connection. After transmission of the request to suspend the first RRC connection, the UE receives a message from the first network to place the first RRC connection in an inactive state, and initiates a timer, wherein the timer is used to determine whether the first RRC connection remains in the inactive state or transitions to an idle state.
