A high voltage system for an electrified vehicle includes a first high voltage component, a second high voltage component, and a high voltage cable. The high voltage cable provides power between a first location of the first high voltage component and a second location of the second high voltage component. The high voltage cable includes a core, a sheath disposed around and along the core, and one or more detection layers at least one of (a) disposed around and along the sheath or (b) disposed within the sheath. The one or more detection layers are configured to facilitate detecting at least one of (a) damage or wear to the sheath or (b) a location of the damage or wear along the sheath.

A fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis, tractive elements coupled to the chassis, a pump coupled to the chassis, a discharge fluidly coupled to the pump, an accessory module coupled to the chassis, and an electric motor coupled to the chassis, the pump, and the accessory module. The accessory module is configured to receive a mechanical energy input and provide at least one of electrical energy or fluid energy. The electric motor is configured to provide mechanical energy to drive (a) the pump to provide fluid to the discharge such that the fluid is expelled from the discharge and (b) the accessory module to provide the at least one of electrical energy or fluid energy.

A fluid distribution system includes a first flow meter configured to be positioned along an agent line, a metering valve configured to be positioned downstream of the first flow meter, a second flow meter configured to be positioned downstream of the first flow meter and an eductor, and a controller configured to selectively operate the fluid distribution system in a testing mode where the controller is configured to acquire a first flow rate of a fluid flowing through the first flow meter and a second flow rate of the fluid flowing through the second flow meter, determine a performance characteristic based on the first flow rate and the second flow rate, and modulate a current setting of the metering valve from a first setting to a second setting and conduct the testing mode sequence again at the second setting to verify the fluid distribution system is performing properly.

An electrified fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis, a cab coupled to the chassis, a body coupled to the chassis, a front axle coupled to the chassis, a rear axle coupled to the chassis, a water tank supported by the chassis, an energy storage system coupled to the chassis, a water pump supported by the chassis, and an electromagnetic device electrically coupled to the energy storage system. The electromagnetic device is coupled to the water pump and at least one of the front axle or the rear axle. A fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis, a front axle, a rear axle, an engine, an energy storage device, an electromechanical transmission, a vehicle subsystem, and a power divider. The electromechanical transmission is (i) coupled to at least one of the front axle or the rear axle and (ii) electrically coupled to the energy storage device. The power divider is positioned between the engine, the vehicle subsystem, and the electromechanical transmission. The power divider includes a first interface coupled to the engine, a second interface coupled to the vehicle subsystem, and a third interface coupled to the electromechanical transmission. The power divider is configured to facilitate (i) selectively coupling the engine to the vehicle subsystem and (ii) selectively coupling the engine to the electromechanical transmission.

The driveline includes a prime mover positioned beneath the cab and coupled to the chassis, a transmission, a sandwiched power take-off unit, and a brake system. The sandwiched power take-off unit is positioned between (a) the prime mover and (b) the transmission and the pump system. The brake system is positioned between the sandwiched power take-off unit and the pump system.

The controller is configured to monitor a state-of-charge of the battery pack, operate the electromagnetic device using stored energy in the battery pack to provide a performance condition including (i) accelerating the electrified fire fighting vehicle to a driving speed of at least 50 miles-per-hour in an acceleration time and (ii) maintaining or exceeding the driving speed for a period of time, and start and operate the engine in response to a start condition to facilitate reserving sufficient stored energy in the battery pack such that the state-of-charge is maintained above a minimum state-of-charge threshold that is sufficient to facilitate the performance condition. The acceleration time is 30 second or less. An aggregate of the acceleration time and the period of time is at least 3 minutes.

An electrified fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis, a cab coupled to the chassis, a body coupled to the chassis, a front axle coupled to the chassis, a rear axle coupled to the chassis, a water tank supported by the chassis, an energy storage system coupled to the chassis and positioned rearward of the cab, a water pump supported by the chassis, and an electromagnetic device electrically coupled to the energy storage system. The electromagnetic device is coupled to the water pump and at least one of the front axle or the rear axle. The electromagnetic device is configured to receive stored energy from the energy storage system and provide a mechanical output to selectively drive the water pump and the at least one of the front axle or the rear axle.

A fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis, a front axle, a rear axle, a powertrain, an accessory drive, and a controller. The powertrain includes an engine, a battery system, and an electromechanical transmission coupled to the battery system, the engine, and at least one of the front axle or the rear axle. The fluid delivery system includes a first pump that provides a first fluid output at a first pressure, and a second pump positioned downstream of and coupled to the first pump in a serial arrangement. The second pump is driven by the engine. The second pump provides a second fluid output at a second pressure. During a first mode, the first fluid output is dischargeable from a low pressure discharge. During a second mode, the second fluid output is dischargeable from a first high pressure discharge and/or a second high pressure discharge, the engine operates at a first set point when the second fluid output is discharged from the first high pressure discharge, and the engine operates at a second set point when the second fluid output is discharged from the second high pressure discharge.

A fire fighting vehicle includes a powertrain including an engine, a battery pack, and an electromechanical transmission; a power divider; and a controller. The power divider is positioned between the engine, the pump, and the electromechanical transmission. The controller is configured to monitor a state-of-charge of the battery pack and operate the engine, the power divider, and the electromechanical transmission such that the state-of-charge is maintained above a minimum state-of-charge threshold that is sufficient to facilitate (i) accelerating the fire fighting vehicle to a driving speed of at least 50 miles-per-hour in an acceleration time and (ii) maintaining or exceeding the driving speed for a period of time. An aggregate of the acceleration time and the period of time is at least three minutes.

A fluid distribution system includes a water line configured to receive water from a water source, an agent line configured to receive agent from an agent source, a flush line configured to receive the water from the water source and connecting to the agent line at a junction, a flush valve positioned to selectively prevent the water from flowing along the flush line, an agent valve positioned to selectively prevent the agent from flowing along the agent line, a first flow meter positioned along the agent line downstream of the junction, a second flow meter positioned downstream of the first flow meter, an eductor coupled to the agent line and the water line downstream of the first flow meter and upstream of the second flow meter, a metering valve positioned downstream of the first flow meter and upstream of the eductor, and a controller.
