A spinal rod extension system includes a rod portion and a connector portion connected to the rod portion. The connector portion is configured for insertion through a screw head of an existing pedicle screw that is used to secure an existing spinal rod. The spinal rod extension system also includes a screw head connector configured to mount to the screw head of the existing pedicle screw to secure the connector portion to the existing spinal rod. The screw head connector includes a first end wall and a second end wall that are connected to one another by a pair of cross connectors.

A bone joint inserter device for accessing and manipulating a facet joint is provided. The bone joint inserter device improves surgical control in bone anchor location, placement, and insertion into target bone, while the inserter device also improves efficiency in engaging the target bone joint. The surgical instrument provides improved control of cutting device location and orientation, including directional control for precise bone anchor component insertion. Methods to use the bone joint inserter device in surgical procedures are also provided.

A system for facet joint fusion includes a cannula having a body and a navigation arm mounted to the body. The navigation arm includes a base and a plurality of individual arms mounted to the base. The navigation arm also includes one or more markers mounted to the plurality of individual arms. The system also includes an imaging system configured to identify a position of the one or more markers relative to a facet joint of a patient. The system further includes a rotary tool that is configured to mount within the cannula. The rotary tool is configured to create a void in the facet joint by way of the cannula, and the void is configured to receive a bone graft or bone growth promoting material.

An expandable cage system for use in spinal surgery includes a top portion having an outwardly extending top arm, and a bottom portion having an outwardly extending bottom arm. The bottom arm is configured to engage with the top arm such that upon engagement, the top portion and the bottom portion are substantially restricted from movement relative to each other in an anterior-posterior direction, and in a medial-lateral direction. The expandable cage system further includes a removable shim configured to be positioned between the top portion and the bottom portion to hold the expandable cage in an expanded position within a spinal cavity.

A cervical spine plate attachment system includes a cervical spine plate that has a first surface configured to rest upon a first vertebra and a second vertebra, a second surface opposite the first surface and facing away from the first vertebra and the second vertebra, and a plurality of holes configured to receive fasteners to secure the cervical spine plate to the first vertebra and the second vertebra. The system also includes an alignment guide that detachably mounts to the cervical spine plate. The alignment guide comprises a pair of bars that rest upon the second surface of the cervical spine plate when the alignment guide is mounted to the cervical spine plate. The system also includes a fastener configured to secure the alignment guide to the cervical spine plate.

A spinal construct includes an existing spinal rod implant defining a rod dimension and having at least one mating surface. At least one extension includes a mating surface engageable with the at least one mating surface of the existing spinal rod implant to comprise a connection having a dimension the same as the rod dimension. A coupling member is configured to fix the existing spinal rod implant with the at least one extension. Systems, surgical instruments, implants and methods are disclosed.

A spine stabilization and fusion system includes a lateral cage having a lateral cage bore hole. The system also includes a lateral cage insertion shaft comprising a leading end, a mid-portion, and a terminal end. A shape of the leading end matches a shape of the lateral cage bore hole such that the leading end mates with the lateral cage bore hole via a friction fit. The system also includes a lateral plate having a lateral plate bore hole and a plurality of holes, where the lateral plate bore hole receives the mid-portion of the lateral cage insertion shaft, and where the plurality of holes receive fasteners to couple the lateral plate to one or more vertebra.

A spine stabilization and fusion system includes a lateral cage configured for placement between an upper vertebra and a lower vertebra. A face of the lateral cage includes an opening. The system also includes a lateral plate that includes one or more holes extending from a lateral face of the lateral plate to a medial face of the lateral plate. The one or more holes are configured to receive one or more fasteners. The lateral plate also includes a protrusion formed on the medial face of the lateral plate, where the protrusion is configured to mate with the opening in the face of the lateral cage.

A system for percutaneous or open facet joint fusion includes an imaging system configured to identify a docking location on a facet joint between a first vertebra and a second vertebra of a patient. The system also includes a cannula configured to be positioned at the docking location on the facet joint. The cannula includes one or more markers mounted thereto, and the imaging system is configured to identify the one or more markers to position the cannula at the docking location. The cannula also includes one or more actuators configured to move the one or more markers. The system further includes a rotary tool that is configured to mount within the cannula. The rotary tool is configured to create a void in the facet joint by way of the cannula, and the void is configured to receive a bone graft or bone growth promoting material.

A spinal rod extension system includes a rod portion of a spinal rod extension and a connector portion connected to the rod portion. The spinal rod extension system also includes a screw head connector configured to mount to the screw head of the existing pedicle screw to secure the connector portion to the existing spinal rod. The screw head connector includes a first end wall and a second end wall that are connected to one another by a pair of cross connectors.

A system to stabilize a fracture includes an intramedullary rod having first and second ends and configured for placement within a medullary bone canal of a bone. The intramedullary rod includes a first rod hole at the second end. An intramedullary rod plate has first and second plate holes. A first fastener includes a shaft portion and a threaded head portion. The shaft portion of the first fastener passes through the first plate hole, through an outer surface of the bone, and through the first rod hole at the second end of the intramedullary rod such that the first fastener secures the intramedullary rod plate to the intramedullary rod. The threaded head portion of the first fastener mates with threads in the first plate hole. A second fastener passes through the second plate hole and into the bone to secure the intramedullary rod plate to the bone.

A method of mounting a spinal rod extension includes accessing at least a portion of an existing spinal rod. The method also includes removing a locking cap from an existing pedicle screw that secures the existing spinal rod. The method also includes placing a connector portion of the spinal rod extension through a screw head of the existing pedicle screw. The method further includes using a connector to secure the connector portion to the existing spinal rod.
